It's amazing how easy this building can be overlooked, you would think the two ladies guarding the entrance would be the nicest thing to see.......get inside.

It has this amazing hall, lamps and this staircase that....I would've never imagined that inside there. The reading room is beautiful, the garden in the center, wow I was amazed how simple it looks from outside and how much there is in the inside.

Give it a try, it's worth it, AND FREE C'MON!

As an architecture major, I know why the BPL has a lot of love. I have been here several times to do studies and research on the building itself, and the resources that this library houses are numerous. I will say, however, that if you venture too far away from the rooms which are common to tourists, you will find yourself in a labyrinth of outdated and creepy rooms. Combine this with the year-round homeless people who live on the building's exterior... and you have yourself a pretty average urban public building experience.

When you go have lunch before you go in. No place to grab something. It is a great place to look at newspaper from the early years

Huge library, and pretty quiet.
Just went to visit so I can't say more...

I put it as average because the library itself (if you want to use it as a library) is kind of worn and sometimes smelly, especially in the "new" building. If you're away from the stacks and in the courtyard, it's beautiful. Definitely worth a walk-through if you're in Copley Square and chances are, if you're visiting Boston, you'll probably find yourself in Copley Square.
