“Husband's 60th Birthday Party- The Perfect Event”
Reviewed 10 May 2010

The Reynolds Mansion has been totally renovated and under new ownership. The new owners are the very best! I wanted to do something special for my husband's 60th birthday and he loves historic homes. I asked the new owners if we could have a private dinner party there and they immediately set about helping me make it the very best party ever. They helped with the menu, did the flower arranging, and joined in the fun of the evening. This is the perfect B&B in Asheville for a stay or for a special event. Once you visit there, you want to go back many times as the home is so interesting and the owners are so informative and entertaining.

The Reynolds Mansion, recently refurbished and under new ownership, is well on its way to becoming one of Asheville's treasures. Only minutes away from local attractions like the Biltmore House and Gardens, this Historic Mansion is a destination in its own right. With a strong sense of history, an eye for detail, and a good old dose of Southern hospitality, the new owners have caputred the Bed and Breakfast experience. The backdrop of spectacular sunsets along with spacious porches and grounds make this property ideal for weddings and family reunions - or simply a girls' weekend. This definitely won't be my last visit to The Reynolds Mansion!

Its ironic that you take exit 23 from "Future I-26" to connect with the past glories of life in the South, when you visit the Reynolds Mansion. Constructed in 1847, this bed and breakfast with 8 rooms in the main house, 2 cottages and 3 suites inthe coach house is now run by Mr Billy Sanders and Mr Michael Griffith. They have done terrific work in furnishing and updating the Mansion since they took over in October 2009. Sanders and Griffith have brought interesting personal touches to each room and suite, naming each after grandmothers, even great-grandmothers, favorite aunts and others, each of whom is honored by having her portrait featured. A tour of the mansion allows you to share in family history, which is part of the history of the South, from Florida to the Carolinas.
Though the coachhouse suites have kitchens, Mr Billy Sanders breakfasts are not to be missed. Scratch-made bakery and biscuits grace the table each morning, along with fresh fruit, and each morning also brings an entree like home-made crepes or quiches.

I have been to a number of B&Bs throughout the country and The Reynolds Mansion is definitely at the top of my list. I would return in a heartbeat. The service was stellar and the wonderful gourmet breakfasts were enjoyed in a dining room that will knock your socks off! The bedroom was very comfortable and if you love historic homes this is for you! I loved the porches (first and second floors) for the late afternoon glass of wine and relaxation. And the views - well what can I say - they are absolutely lovely! The location was very good also - right off future I26 - Short drive to downtown Asheville and the Biltmore home. Don't miss this B&B on the National Registry of Historical Places if you are in the Asheville area.
