My husband and I were looking for a relaxing, romantic mini-vacation; it was our first night away from our baby. It was everything we wanted and needed. James was the consummate host. He welcomed us warmly, gave us a quick tour, showed us to our room and let us get settled before the wine and cheese cocktail hour. The room was lovely; perfect appointments that had the right updates while maintaining the integrity of the original home's architecture. With a quick stop in the parlor, we met other guests and enjoyed a wonderful glass of wine, James's explanations of where to head downtown and Susan's delicious culinary skills. All of James's recommendations were right on the money and after a relaxing night downtown, we returned to our room to find finger licking fudge brownies waiting for us. The breakfast was even better. Susan and James know what they're doing and having traveled and lived abroad, they've brought an upscale level to the B&B business without being stuffy or uncomfortable. Would definitely visit again. They clearly love their work.

Room Tip: Robin's Nest was great - king bed, good shower on the second floor in the corner so not loud.

We spent most of a week at Carolina B and B and had a great time! James and Susan have done beautiful renovations on a turn of the century house. Our room was extremely comfortable with a gas fireplace and a jacuzzi. Afternoon hors-d'oeuvres were superb, and breakfast was over the top delicious. Like many restaurants in town, the hosts build their menu around what is fresh, local and seasonal. Susan's the cook, extraordinaiare. They were also very accommodating of Jennifer's low carbohydrate diet. James and Susan really know the town and the region. You can do a lot of different kinds of things in Asheville - history, food, art, the outdoors. We were there for art hiking and good food. We found all of this, and James especially gave us great guidance about things to see and do. James and Susan are interesting people, interested in their guests, and strike just the right balance between being present and attentive without being intrusive. BTW - coffee, tea and home made cookies are available 24 hours a day.

Room Tip: The room descriptions on the website are very accurate. Think about whether you want a jacuzzi, and...

Everything positive. Owners have put a lot of love in the place, and it shows in the personal touches and details.

Location great for walking downtown. Rooms and beds very comfortable, with attention to detail. Lovely gardens and pathways. Lovely decor with beautiful color selections and interesting collections from travels. Pleasant sitting areas in the living room and on the porches.

Food exceptional - healthy, interesting recipes but with wide appeal, beautifully plated.

Owners present and very warm and interesting to talk to, but still give you plenty of space. Very good at providing helpful information to make the most of your time during your visit.

Best B&B we have stayed in.

James and Susan have taken great care with the property, and the interior decoration is sublime. More importantly, their warm and welcoming personalities along with the welcoming food, whether breakfast or early evening hors d'oeuvres, made the weekend a great experience.
