“Gone Fishin'!”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

Enjoyed our short stay in Asheville thanks to the hospitality of WIllow WInds! Stayed at Sandy's Chalet and it was so lovely! Very warm, cozy and comfortable. Willow Winds thought of everything to make our stay so exceptional even down to the bathrobes for the hot tub! We will definitely stay here when we are in the Asheville area again. We especially enjoyed the trout pond where we were able to catch our dinner one night! After a long day of sightseeing, the hot tub was a welcome relief! Definitely will return!!

There are advantages to staying in a first-class hotel, for the services provided. But for our 4 days in the Asheville area, we opted for a cabin. Just two of us (I can see, it's ideal for a family to stay in - much better than a hotel or motel), and we like the space and homey-ness of a cabin. As others have noted, the cabins are well-equipped and clean. People in the office are exceptionally firendly, helpful. They even have tickets to some of the attractions (I'd recommend, especially for first-time visitors, the Red Trolley tour, to get acquainted with the city), and discount coupons for some restaurants. We wanted the spring-time tranquility of the woods, and we got that. A plus was that many trees and shrubs were blooming. The full kitchen allowed us to have breakfast in, and we ate out for other meals. Just enough activities to do, with easy access to Asheville locations. Certainly, would do it again.

My wife and three teenagers stayed in Ruby's Dogwood for our spring break last week. We found this resort to be everything we wanted. We fished for trout on the first day which btw were perfect on the grill. Downtown Asheville was only 15 minutes away where we dined and took in the sights. The Biltmore Estate is even closer as were numerous hiking trails and tennis courts.
Bottom line, we had a great stay and would recommend this place to anyone.
We will return!

I chose Willow Winds from the reviews on trip advisor and was NOT disappointed. Stayed 4 nights in March with husband and 2 boys, 16 and 13. The cabin, Kaitlin's Hemlock, was clean and simply decorated with new kitchen features and great hot tub. Extremely comfortable beds and very quiet. Peaceful! Beautiful views off the back porch, private. The grounds are amazing around the complex---so much details and care in the landscaping, sculptures, fountains, gardens. Great place to walk/hike with the Blue Ridge Mountain trail right at end of road to hike through the mountains. Huge selection of free DVDs to check out. The kids loved all the free games at the office/clubhouse area: foos-ball, ping pong, air hockey, basketball and more! Bocci ball, giant chess board (outdoor), horseshoes, fishing at the pond. The restaurants and downtown Asheville/Biltmore are all within 10 to 15 min. drive. Don't miss The Lobster Trap (lobster roll and oysters), Lexington Ale Brewery (LAB) (sweet potato soup and apple/brie pizza), Books and Bread Board (breakfast!!). Also, do NOT miss the 78 mile drive to Elizabethton,TN for River Earth Adventures, Inc. and go CAVING!! Was too cold out (and we were tired from 3 hour cave hike!) for the rafting adventure.

Room Tip: Check out the Willow Winds website for video of all the cabins interiors to see which one you prefer...

This is the #1 rated cabins in the Asheville area and there is a reason why.
We have stayed in other cabins but this one was the best supplied and the best maintained. Willow Winds is running a first class operation.

I was concerned with renting a cabin rather than a hotel. You never know if you will get an up to date, clean and comfortable cabin or a trip to the 1800s. This was up to date, clean and comfortable.

I was impressed:
1. Everything worked.
2. The kitchen equipment was good.
3. The place was well supplied, including light bulbs and dishwashing soap.
4. As an added professional touch, there were bathrobes for the hot tub and a welcome basket.

We will return.
