My wife and I and another couple stayed at Willow Winds for four night in March, 2012. We shared Kaitlins Cabin and were delighted with everything. First of all, the place was spotless! It was furnished nicely, but not elegantly- which is appropriate for a cabin. It was supremely comfortable. Our correspondence with everyone prior to getting there was very professional and helpful. They even called us on our cell phone as we were driving down to let us know the Cabin was ready and we could check in anytime. Check in was quick and helpful. We were given maps and directions to grocery stores as well as restaurants- they even had coupons for several restaurants which we used.
They provided a very nice "welcome basket" of goodies which was appreciated as we had not stocked any groceries prior to coming in- although they called and said they would be happy to stock the cabin with groceries if we wanted- a very nice service if you were arriving late at night.. Beyond the welcome basket, the cabin was stocked with many necessities, dishwasher soap, condiments such as salt and pepper and other items which I have forgotten. needless to say, we were pleased that they had thought of everything.
The cabin was comfortable and completely furnished- a nice flat screen TV in the living room, comfortable barcalounger, sofa and chairs. The deck was spacious and had an electric grill for cooking outside as well as comfortable rockers and other chairs. The bathrooms were immaculate and spacious. Both bedrooms were large and comfortable- robes were provided for the hot tub. All the cabins are situated so as to provide privacy and quiet; even though the place was full, we were never conscious of other people. The grounds are beautiful- containing many water fountains and ponds.
Willow Winds is located just south of Ashville and the directions to get there were excellent. Even though the cabins are near shopping and sights, you feel as if you are in the middle of the woods. Hiking trails are right outside your door and you are surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
They were having an "early season special" and we stayed for less than $80.00 a couple per night. We paid $80.00 for a motel room on the way down- we had an entire home for the same price. I can imagine it is a wonderful place for families.
Highly recommended as a very special place.
