Owner description: Thomas Wolfe's childhood home, immortalized in his 1929 novel, "Look Homeward Angel," is preserved intact as a lasting monument to one of the 20th century's most prominent writers. The house, originally operated as a boardinghouse by his mother, retains most of its original furnishings and is designated as a National Historic Landmark. Tours of the 29 room house are offered hourly. The adjacent visitor center and museum highlight Wolfe's life and major literary accomplishments.

Visiting the Thomas Wolf Homestead in Asheville, NC was like taking a step back in time! Famous author, Thomas Wolfe, was not a favored resident of his hometown because of his contrary ways; that is, until he made a name for himself in the literary world! We were unable to actually visit the museum and homestead because of a time constraint, but we were lucky enough to walk around the property and with the use of my smart phone, we were able to dial a special telephone number and hear commentary on various things, such as a separate building which was Wolfe's playhouse. I read some of the author's work in college and was anxious to see his dwelling. Even though we weren't able to actually visit the museum or homestead, I thought it was still worthwhile!

We went on a tour of the "OLD KENTUCKY HOME" where Wolfes mom moved them to.The home has actually been restored as good as they could due to a fire that destroyed it several years ago.Was a bit disappointed when I found this out but a good tour to see.

The tour guide we had was excellent.....so very knowledgeable. He had dedicated his working life to this museum, and it really showed. No question to big or small, to difficult or trivial. A credit to this interesting cultural place. :-)

We enjoyed this stop on our Gray Line Trolley tour. Very informative, especially for those of us who didn't know much about Thomas Wolfe before the visit. Very interesting, and I loved that most of the house's furnishings are original to the house. Our guide really knew a lot of interesting things about the family.
