The grandeur of the estate cannot be described in the literature - one must see it. Having visited the "cottages" in Newport, it was a no-brainer to visit Biltmore, but I was shocked at the differences. Biltmore is grander in scale, but much more liveable. The grounds are incomparable; the mountain views breathtaking. I am only sorry that I did not visit when the gardens were in bloom; however, my allergies are thanking me! This was a dream trip I will not forget.

The self guided tours were excellent and the audio guides that were provided gave you additional information concerning the various rooms in the home.

Touring Biltmore is an amazing experience. My favorite time of year to visit is in the spring when the garden is in bloom.

We truly enjoyed our trip to the Biltmore. It was a wonderful experience. We also took a behind the scenes tour. It was amazing! We were able to scale the entire front balcony of the home and see in the attic! It was so amazing to see a more private side to this amazing family....I would highly recommend a trip! We stayed at the Biltmore Inn....that's another review....again, outstanding!

We went when the gardens were not in their glory. But that gave us time to focus on the house for our first visit to the estate. The house is simply incredible. From the moment you walk through the front door until you leave through the side door, you are dazzled. It's almost impossible to believe that anyone ever lived like this. We got a free audio tour with our tickets since it was off-season. It really enhanced the experience. It's hard to believe that George Vanderbilt was a bachelor when he built what remains the largest privately owned home in the United States. Really, it's not a boring house tour. There's not a speck of dust to be found. It's as if the Vanderbilts still lived there. Dazzling.
