This was a beautiful day. Boca Chita was amazing and our guide was really knowledgeable. Best of all was Ranger Dan who gave our daughter her Junior Ranger badge. He went over the book and complemented her on her hard work, and really took the time to add some extra details to her learning experience to make it special. Thank you for such a treasure! We had an amazing time. The park is gorgeous. We learned so much and our Captain (cant remember her name....sorry!) and safety director (Danny) were top notch. So glad to know about this national treasure...peaceful and snorkeling were great. So peaceful to be one of only 20 people out there.

We booked the Sail, Paddle, Snorkel and Island Visit, Full Day trip because we had never experienced sailing. There were only the three of us on the sailboat, and Captain Judy taught us a little about the sails and had my son and husband learning to hoist the sails, etc. We sailed to Adams Key where we ate a lunch that we had packed, then we used paddle boards to explore around the island. We snorkeled and saw fish among the mangroves. We also saw a barracuda while paddling as well as a ray. We visited all three of the national parks in southern Florida and this was our teenage son's favorite day. We want to visit again to take boat trips to see other islands in the park.

We took our kids first-time tent camping on a Monday in March at Elliot Key using the boating services at Biscayne. Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but knew we were in for an adventure!

Packed fairly light, taking the bare necessities: tent, sleeping bag, pads, cooler, fishing poles, bait, wagon, food, camp stove, sun block, bug spray, hygiene kit, clothes, towels, and first aid kit...oh, and snorkel gear, paddle board, & life vests. Met with our boat captain by 8:00 am. I had been communicating with him via text with questions prior to the trip. We loaded up the boat (plenty of storage space for our gear), and took off for Elliot Key! It was a beautiful ~30 min boat ride.

When we arrived, we unloaded and decided on our campsite. Our captain gave us tips before he left. There were picnic tables and park grills all over, and we were told we could pitch our tent anywhere there was grass. We stayed as close to the water as possible to avoid the bugs near the dense woods. Volunteers were there answering our questions, giving us tips (ex. how to identify the poisonwood tree), and even gave my daughters a tour of the touch table exhibit in the closed Visitors Center. Surprisingly, there was a nice bathroom facility with indoor and outdoor showers and potable water. Everything was clean. Everyone was super nice.

We had a blast! It wasn't easy with three kids (ages 5-11), but it was worth it! My daughter fished from a pier and caught a puffer fish to name one! Another camper caught a few big mangrove snappers and showed us how to clean and cook them on our campstove! Yummy! I paddled with my other two girls. We saw plenty of fish, a nurse shark, a manatee, birds galore, and explored the trail leading to the ocean side of the park. The ocean side looked like it had seen better days prior to the hurricane. The ground fire pit looked amazing, but we didn't use it. We were advised to be ready to hide from mosquitos and noseeums by 7pm, so we were in our tent by then, exhausted anyhow. This would have been a great place to explore after dark, but we were dog tired. All of our gear was packed well outside the tent, food was in a secured, tied shut container. No raccoon issues.

By nightfall, we were ALL ALONE!!!! It was pretty surreal. Next time, we’ll pack more food, and long sleeves, and pants. It really is a beautiful location. I’m jealous of all the boater owners!

My husband and I snorkeled with our two teenage children who had never snorkeled before. The trip was perfect. The captain and mate were friendly and informative. Boat ride and snorkeling were a blast. The unplanned stop at Adams Key on the return trip for a bathroom break was genius. Made the return boat ride much more enjoyable!
