Came here recently for lunch with a big groups of friends. I enjoyed the place greatly. We were a big group, but everything worked amazingly well. That was in great part due to this place’s exceptional staff. Really professionals. The food was also god and the prices were well within expectations. So overall a very nice experience.

We decided to try this place out and were surprised by crowd and it was not that good.

Place was packed and we waited 30 minutes for a table despite arriving early and seeing several empty tables (no apology for wait or when we departed no one said anything as we exited)
Food is Very Very Expensive $$$$$ no sure how they came u with a 2-3 dollar sign rating. (Appetizer 2 small glasses of wine 6 oz.and 1 soup......and bill was $100)
Wanted a small Prime Rib Which they don't serve.
No way to order sides or smaller portions

Wine Very expensive and Every Drop Arrives in a pre-measured amount

Worst bread and butter I ever tasted (something smokey was served for butter and to me it tasted like I was eating out of an ashtray) Yuck . 3/4 of the loaf was not consumed (save some waste here guys a few slice will do)

We purchased a seafood platter appetizer and it came with a really weird selection of condiments (leave 3 of the four off and save us paying customers some money)
Could not understand our waiter when he spoke, we saw him twice
He seemed very pushy about wanting us to order our meal right after appetizer but we wanted to see if we could handle a meal. He seemed upset that we would not order a steak or something else. We could not eat all of the appetizer either.
Soup was good but again it was handeled like portion control situation (mixed and served in our bowl at the table where crab meat dumped in bowl right in front of my wife and pre measured amount of soup is poured over it.)

Went to have a quick dinner, wasn't that hungry so decided to order soup and appetizer.

Chicken tortilla soup was light, full of flavor, great presentation, delicious!

Calimari was not what I expected. Lots of breaded carrot strips and jalapenos, we were lucky to have found maybe 10 pieces of calimari. What is usually a crisp appetizer was more like soft bread coating. Not ever ordering that again & neither should you.

Wonderful lunch menu choices. Crab bisque was delicious as was the salmon salad. Like the combo option of 1/2 sandwich with choice of several soups or awesome salad. Always busy there, but service was great.

6 of us went for dinner expecting J. Gilbert's usual excellence. It wasn't very busy yet, so we weren't prepared to wait forever for our dinners. I don't blame the waiter--apparently all the waiters were working with a very slow kitchen, but our waiter never stopped at our table to acknowledge the long wait or to refill water glasses.

The "doneness" of my Filet Mignon and my granddaughter 's were mixed-up, a small error but at $34, I want my steak medium rare, not medium. Overall, the food was good.

One other small detail: my husband had a cane and was clearly walking with difficulty. We should've requested a nearby table, because the hostess took us on a looong walk before seating us.
