Arizmendi is excellent in all sorts of ways!

It's worker-owned, vegetarian, uniformly delicious, fresh, philanthropic. It's fun to try their pizza of the day as well as whatever focaccia they have, and their shortbread, coffee cake, etc. I also buy my local honey there!

Great place to stop and get some pastries before heading into the park. Loved the variety of baked goods and everything was delicious.

What impressed me most was the quality of what we got for the price. We just moved to the area, and needed a loaf of bread for dinner. My husband went out and came back with bread, cookies, and pastries. He said that there was a $10 minimum and he was expecting to pay close to that for fresh baked bread from a co-op, but instead he had to keep adding things to make the minimum. What a pleasant (and delicious!) surprise for us!

We were walking on 9th Avenue between Irving and Judah and not knowing anything about this place, we stopped for Pizza and Java before heading into Golden Gate Park.

The Pizza of the day was spinach, HUGE cooked garlic cloves and feta. OMG. HOW delicious. 2 slices of pizza and a large coffee set us back $7.50. We ate on a bench outside.

If we lived in SF we'd be here all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Treat yourself.

Just like France, will not 100 % but the closest we may get here in America. The fact that the Arizmendi Bakers are employeed own is another good reason to buy their baked items. I love all the breads that they offer. Always fresh and wholesome. The pasteries are not as lite as you'd find in France. BUT (!) with a morning cup of joe, you will be in haven earting one of their morni ng items.
