“Everything a traveller could want from a well priced hotel with friendly staff and quick access to everywhere.”

This hotel may not be the most glamorous in SF but it is really comfortable, has free parking and free wifi, is close to EVERYTHING or is close to fun transport options that will get you wherever you need to go. The hotel staff are really knowledgable and helpful and have hot coffee, tea or hit chocolate waiting for you whenever you want it. I would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel, huge room, two double beds, no aircon but ceiling fan more than enough, spacious storage area, TV, phone, FREE wifi, FREE parking, FREE drinks (in reception), great location-in fishermans wharf, old style motel, very friendly and helpful staff, great toiletries. Really can't fault the place.
The free parking, location and price for the area couldn't be better. Done people may find the 'old style motel' dated, but it had much more character than your average hotel room. So glad we managed to get a room here again, after our road trip.

I must admit to being a little apprehensive about booking this hotel in view of the things that had been said about it. However, it was not as bad as I expected. The room was clean and perfectly adequate although a little 'tired' and whilst there was a bit of outside noise from early morning, a pair of earplugs soon sorted that out. The main thing going for this hotel is its location. You would pay a lot more money to stay in the 'chain' hotels in the vacinity. If you want a reasonably priced hotel on Fisherman's Wharf, take a chance on this place and you may be pleasantly surprised, but remember, you only get what you pay for.

My partner and I stayed here last year and did not have a good stay. The room was nice enough except it cost more than I felt it should. However the real problem was the bed bugs. My partner woke up with terrible bites after our first night and they got progressively worse as the day went on. We were very worried as they worsened while we were out on a Napa Valley day trip and we kept wondering what we would do when we got back to the room as we didn't want to stay there for another night let alone the rest of the nights we had booked. When we got back that afternoon and spoke to the front desk (an employee, not the manager) we received the only sympathy we got from that point on and were given a new room when we asked to move. Later the manager spoke with us and was rude and condescending. He tried to suggest we had brought the bugs with us. We went into the old room and pulled back the sheets and mattress protector and found a couple of bugs and some dried blood. When we told them about this, they came up to our old room and were in there for a while. Later we were told that they were getting exterminators in. We never really got an apology, and had to ask to get that first night for free. The manager was rude to us on more than one occasion even though we were polite, mild and never got angry (now I wish we had!) When I asked about using a laundry to wash our things in case they were now contaminated, after someone suggested this to me, he almost laughed in my face and said that wasn't necessary. I found bites on my own arms but they never flared up as much as my partner's did. It ruined our stay in San Francisco, especially when we had to go and get advice from a pharmacist and spend a lot on creams and pills for the reaction. We passed several lovely hotels on our walk to Walgreens and really wished we had paid the extra money to stay there (they were booked out for the rest of our stay so we had to stay at the Wharf!)

The good....: Location, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are clean. Free parking. The building is secured.

The bad......: The rooms are small and lacking the amenities one would expect. Also time to update the tv. Towels are a joke, toilet paper and facial tissue are super thin. The toilet is not friendly for the above average person. (I am 5' 10"/200 lbs.). The room can get a bit cold at night. Unfortunately you can not control the heat till it is turned on between 9 and 10 pm, and at that it
is noisey. Oh, on the morning of check out there was a roach on the ceiling over our bed.

If you are a lite sleeper I suggest requesting a room on the third floor in the rear of the hotel to avoid the street noise at night.
