“Location and price”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

We booked this hotel for the good price and great location. The rooms are small, and so are the beds. But everything is clean so it was a great choice for our stay.

The location is great and the staff is friendly. However, those two points do not outweigh how uncomfortable it is to stay here.

I opted for a deluxe queen room with the private bath. The room is very small but that's ok, I knew that going in.

The bathroom is tiny as well, which would have been ok if it included a functional sink area to accomplish basic things like brushing one's teeth or shaving. The sink is the size of an office telephone, with a glass shelf directly above it. The shelf makes it impossible to lean down to rinse, etc without bumping your head into it. The height of the sink is also very low. Incredibly uncomfortable for a person of my height - and I'm not even that tall at 6'1. The bathroom sink i would say is the worst i've ever experienced in my business travels. Just a horribly uncomfortable experience.

With the exception of the bathroom window, the windows do not open in the room! I was there when the temps hit the 80s in San Francisco. There's no AC! The room got incredibly stuffy and humid. There is zero circulation of air going through the room making it very difficult to sleep.

The noise. Oh the noise. There is loud screeching noise, which lasts a full minute whenever someone their toilet. It's very, very loud and obnoxious. Like a tea kettle, which is not very pleasant. Also, God forbid you do open the bathroom window on the floor i was on - the 3rd. You hear the lovely sounds of construction, taxi whistles from neighboring hotels, corn horns. All sounding like they are in your room.

I rarely write reviews but really felt like i needed to warn potential visitors. This place was just horrible.

Excellent location and although the rooms are small they are clean and functional. The staff while initially unsympathetic did agree to forfeit the charge for out first night as we did not make it due to storms in Dallas. The manager was very helpful. Would recommend this Hotel and hope to stay again!

No one could fault the location of this hotel it is very central, you can get the BART from San Fran airport to within a minutes walk of the airport with no transfers/changeovers which was excellent for us as we were on a budget. You are right in the middle of shopping district and to get up to Fisherman's Wharf it is a 25 min bus ride ($2.20 with free transfer for 90 mins) straight there on the F bus.
The hotel is very classy in image and was very clean. In the morning there is little muffins, coffee and tea available in the lobby.
We booked a room with the shared bathroom. The shower/bath is in a separate room from the toilet (which is always a good idea) and I never saw it less than spotless any time I used either.
The only reason this hotel loses a star is because our room was very tiny. Im not picky but we literally had to walk around sideways to get around our suitcases/the bed. There was also water pipes right against the wall so the room (even though it was cold outside and we had the room fan on) was very hot and because of this uncomfortable. As a result we had to leave the window open but there was some noise in the alley way below the window.
Other than this I felt for the location and the price it was a very good hotel and would stay here again but would definately get a room with ensuite.

Room Tip: Get a room with a private en-suite

I would definitely stay here again.

I booked this on Expedia for a spontaneous trip to the opposite coast, about 3 days before my arrival . It was about $20 cheaper than the rate offered on the hotels website. As noted in most other reviews, the rooms are very small, but they were really clean and well designed, so I didn't mind. We had a Queen Delux, so we had a bathroom inside of our room, but we had to walk by a number of shared hallway bathrooms and they all seemed very clean. The sink was outside of the bathroom in the other corner of the room (the room was only about 9 feet wide). The bath tub was really deep and I enjoyed a bubble bath every night of my 4 night stay. No closet, but they did have some poles sticking out of the walls with a total of six hangers, so I was able to hang some dresses so that they didn't wrinkle. No air conditioner, but a pretty hefty ceiling fan and keeping the window cracked, did the job. We were on the 8th floor, so street noise wasn't an issue except for one night when someone was power washing something down in the alley below. It wasn't late, and we found the noise sort of amusing because it took us about 5 minutes to figure out it wasn't a tornado. Walls are paper thin, but it really wasn't an issue.

Great location, steps away from all mass transportation. We walked to Fisherman's Warf and to AT&T field for a Giant's game. Took the Bart and Muni for the Mission and Haight/Golden Gate Park areas, respectively. We parked a block over on 3rd, but it was a bit steep at $33 per night. Tons of options for food/coffee/shopping within a one block radius.

Overall a great experience, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.
