“Smart hotel but rooms a little cramped for a family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

The room we were allocated was a corner room which was extremely clean with 2 Queen beds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the location ideal but there are a few points which we feel are worth mentionning. We travelled as a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 young children.

One of the beds was pushed against a wall which meant that you could not walk around this bed so with 4 people in a room, one person had to climb over the bed to get in! This is not what you would expect in a hotel of this standard. The wardrobe space was a rail in the bathroom.

Finally, during our trip there was a fire alarm at 4.30am. We were amazed at the non-existent staff presence during this procedure. Guests were left standing in front of the hotel following each other. When re-entering the Hotel, the firemen were still in the building.

The concierge was very helpful and provided some very useful information on getting around San Francisco. We enjoyed a fanatastic day at the California Academy of Science and the Golden Gate Park - perfect if you are travelling with young children.

Room Tip: If you are a family, ask for a larger room.

stayed five nights.Hotel is very nice in a nice area.Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was well equiped and spacious.cable car stops outside of hotel which takes you down to fishermans wharf. The hotel is at the top of Nobs hill and I mean HILL but don't let that put you off.
The only down side is if you have a car its $54 per night to park at the hotel which is the norm for most hotels in San Francisco. Parking charges in general are very expensive so unless you intend to travel outside of San Francisco don't have a car,it's not need.
Would have no hesitation going back to this hotel

Stayed here for the first time. No complaints at all. Had an outside corner room on fifth floor and we did hear the cable car noise, but we enjoyed the bay view! The concierge, Ric, is so helpful. He made terrific restaurant recommendations. I like the small size of this hotel which means it seems more exclusive and less busy, busy inside and outside. We are Platinum members of Marriott so we have seen many Club Lounges; this one was very average.

Room Tip: If you are light sleeper get an interior room!

Stayed here for two nights with my wife and granddaughter. We were given a room with a view of the bay and a peak of Alcatraz. We arrived and were greeted politely by the doorman. The lobby was large, clean and the front desk staff was excellent.

We were assigned a room with a king and used a rollaway for the GD. They offered us two full's but I said I would kill my wife if we had to sleep on such a small bed.

Three elevators and they all worked. Clean halls, newer hallway carpets and well lit.

Our room was clean overlooked California Street with its cable car line. Yes it is a little noisy but you are in the city. If you want a quieter room get one of the interior rooms they will be very quite but you will not have a view unless the guest across the way is cute.

Rooms in SF are small. We were OK with the rollaway but it was a little snug. The tub and toilet are in a separate area off the main bathroom but I didn't like the louvered door separating the sink and closet area with the main room. It should be a solid door.

The shower had great pressure but if you are any taller than 5-8 (me) it is very low. It looked like they ran out of pipe or made a big mistake on measuring. But it worked well and I got along.

The rooms were clean, well lit, updated and quite expect for the exterior noise.

We used the club lounge several times. They served breakfast with eggs, oatmeal, various fruits and pastries. Good coffee and OJ. They have yogurt and milk, sodas, water available all day. At night they had a cold plate, desserts etc. We get free access so this feature saved us a few $ at breakfast.

PARKING IS OUTRAGOUSE IN SF. 52.00 per night 6 of that is taxes. It is expensive all over town and you will be very lucky to find a street park. I saw parking rates from 6.00 to 9.00 per hour. So be prepared. There were cheaper places to park about two blocks away but that lacks convenience and on rainy days not very fun.

This was a good hotel overall. At the top of Nob Hill so you are not in the hustle of Union Square where some of the other Marriott's are.

Room Tip: If you want quiet get an inside room-no view but should be quieter than the street side

I booked this hotel on a whim. It is situated in an ideal location, not too far from China Town. Tram stops on corner so you needn't walk everywhere. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast very pleasant. Loved San Francisco and we will definitely be back
