Even if you've only got a few days in SF, do take time out to go on Jay's walking tour of the Victorians. My daughter and I just had 3 days in the city having flown in from NY for an extended weekend.
Our group of around a dozen people were given an amazing two hours of facts and views of the Victorian Quarter and would highly recommend this to all age groups.

If I get back again I'll definately do it again !

Thank PWB

Very relaxed easy going walking tour of a great cross section of different homes in SF along with historical and some design background. Isaac was enthusiastic, friendly, approachable and very easy going which set a great tone for the tour. It didn't hurt that it was a perfect weather day. It was a very relaxing enjoyable and informative couple of hours.

Jay was well versed in his knowledge of the architecture and history of the homes on the tour - not to mention his eager enthusiasm. The walk was well-paced for every age member of the very large group. We were maybe 30 people, the largest group Jay has ever had. Normally his groups are 5-10, he said. He handled the group size extremely well, and nobody was lost in the shuffle.

After searching the internet for something easily accessable to do on my own whilst in San Francisco, I came across this walking tour. It turned out to be a great choice. Our guide, Jay, arrived at Union Square right on time and the tour was conducted in a very casual and friendly, yet organised manner. It delivered everything as promised and proved to be an easy walk with a relatively small group and a very informative guide.

The houses, a few at different stages of renovation which added even more interest for me, were lovely. An added bonus was that being mid December, the Queen Anne Style Victorian house we visited was decorated inside for Christmas.

Would happily recommend this tour to friends.

We were in San Francisco last week for shopping, theater and food. I remembered something about this Victorian home walk and thought we'd give it a try. Good call! It starts with Jay the incredibly knowledgeable tour leader getting you to a city bus which takes you to a wonderful area of SF that I (born and raised in the City) had never walked through. He then shows, describes a whole lot of Victorians, Queen Annes, Georgians. He will tell you who used to live there, who lives there now , what is original, what is reproduced. He is so interesting. You end up on Union Street where you can browse, eat, drink or take a bus back to Union Square where you started. The tour meets daily at 11:00 in Union Square on the corner of Post and Powell. Wear good walking shoes--lots of walking but no hills.
