“Some things do change”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

Perbacco is one of the most steadfast restaurants in the City- always good, always authentic and always fresh. On my recent visit the place showed signs of aging and although the food is still quite good, something was missing. The server was a little distracted, the ambience of the place was a tad less vibrant and even the noise level was lower. The restroom (bottom floor) was steaming hot forcing quick work of any last minute touch ups. But, the important element - the food- was also lacking any panache. My pasta with nettles was a notch above fair and my dining companion had the short ribs which were pleasant but nothing hit a home run. The dessert menu was tried and true and provided no temptation to either of us. I will return but I am very likely to opt for one of the more innovative choices around town.

“Great restaurant (but loud)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

Food, ambiance and service were terrific. It's very popular (for good reason) so it can get quite loud if you're trying to carry on a conversation with someone not directly next to or in front of you.

“Nice place in the Financial District”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2012

We had dinner at Perbacco on a Saturday night and the room was full. The restaurant design is very nice. It can get loud but it’s nice that way. I had a delicious asparagus salad with a special cheese, I don’t remember the name, but it was close to moza di buffala but really better. I then had the taggliatelle with the pork ragu and it was amazing. I loved it. The prices were reasonable though on the high range of it. The service was impeccable. I would recommend it.

“Wonderful Italian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

This was by far my favourite restaurant in San Francisco. We had lunch on our last day; otherwise I would have returned for dinner. Lovely food and excellent service (grazie, Elisabetta!) Don't go here if you are in a hurry -- not because the service is slow but because the food is SO GOOD, why not take time to really enjoy it?

“Delicious pasta!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2012

There is a great selection of pasta dishes that once we had dinner there we had to go back for lunch a few days.
The pasta dished we tried were the lasagnette with juraseleum artichoke and pork, spaghetti with pork and porcini sugo, spinach and ricotta gnocchi and tortellini of beef short rib and finally the tortelleti of duck. They were all fabulous!
