“Good but not perfect”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2012

My wife and I stayed here on the first three nights of our recent trip to California to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We arrived and were told at the reception that there was a mix up with the dates of our stay. This was quickly resolved and we received an upgrade to a deluxe room by way of apology. We requested a lower floor room as my wife doesn't like lifts so we had a fourth floor room but still with a pleasant city view. The service in the hotel overall was very good but and it is conveniently placed for touring the city. The room itself was nicely appointed but the lack of coffee making facilities in the room was a surprise especially when we woke up very early on our first morning. There were issues with the control unit as it wouldn't work the blinds and we couldn't get any music to play through it. Overall we enjoyed our stay even though we did stay in better hotels later on in our trip.

Excellent stay:great A/C, comfortable bed, quiet room due to no view at back of building (fine with us), excellent maid service 2 or 3 times/day, very good quality abultions and large soaking tub. Good desk for working and appropriate lighting for working then relaxing. Bedside screen to control lighting, radio, telephone & curtains a bit confusing & fussy. Sometimes simply is better. The exercise area is very nice: roomy, bright, good selection of eliptical, cycle & treadmill machines as well as weight machines & free weights, which I used every day. Bar area is very nice & open (I had poor meal in bar but it was quickly taken care of & removed from my bill).

Room Tip: Quiet rooms are at back overlooking alleyway/Jewish Museum.

One of the top stays in the U.S., stayed in a suite with an adjoining den.
Excellent quality of service including kid size slippers and robe - unbeatable at most other hotels.
Ambiance in the hotel is nice, and room is very clean and well appointed.
Highly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: standard rooms are very impressive, as is the lower floor suite

Stayed here in May 2012 for business trip, 2 nights. a nice pool: definitely long enough for laps. great window coverings. total black out for the rooms. exquisite amenities and room service, as expected at St Regis. lively bar in the lobby.

Room Tip: stayed in a delux king, city view. it was pretty standard. no advice for better rooms.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2012 via mobile

This is my third stay and there have been technology glitches before, but this time it's been a disaster. The rooms have a touch screen panel that, in theory, controls many room functions including phone, climate control, drapes and more. This didnt work when I checked in, but then it did. (give me manual drapes control any day). An hour later, the phone kept ringing in the room but there was never a caller. This went on for 20+ minutes. When I called to complain, the computer had another guest name assigned to the room - oops. Finally, the TV stopped receiving most satellite channels for 10+ minutes. In my opinion, they've tried to be cutting edge but the reliability just isn't there. I've had more peaceful stays at far cheaper places.

And finally, to top it off, I experienced my first 3 figure room service. Pizza, crab avocado salad, and two of the least expensive glasses of wine = $105. (salad was great, pizza not)

Got to say this is a big disappointment.
