Owner description: Alleged originator of the fortune cookie.

This must visit bakery on the heart of Chinatown offers a wide selection of fortune cookies, almond cookies and other treats. Prices are extremely reasonable. The fortune cookies are amazing - we ate a whole bag in a few days (and we're paying for it now!). Be sure to stop in and bring back goodies for friends and family back home. We did!!

Nothing better than a fresh fortune cookie! Ok maybe two are better!

It's a tiny hole in the wall stacked with fresh colorful fortune cookies, you can buy one, a bag of 4 or by the pound!

It took me years to commit to memory where Mee Mee is, and now I could not go to SFO without getting a few boxes of their thin almond cookies. Not the 1/2" thick round almond cookies in plastic bags, not the rectangular almond bars in the case, but the paper-thin golden brown wafers with thin almond slivers, packaged nowadays in cellophane bags in hard plastic clamshell boxes (because they are so fragile). You sometimes have to look around for them, as asking about them will do you no good. They are as wonderful as ever. I'll stop going to SFO when Mee Mee closes or stops making these cookies.

Have walked by this place dozens of times. My friend, the expert on macaroons, noticed a very worn sign in the window advertising them. She went in and grabbed one for the meager price of 75 cents. I had not much hope, but it was macaroon heaven. Detour back for a dozen--way, way better than the fancy, schmancy ones in Hayes Valley for $3.50 each. I'm hooked!

On a cool fall day while on a city walking tour, we ventured inside for some cookies. The bakery's storefront on the street was a cramped space with many kinds of freshly baked cookies on display. It was hard to decide what to get, they all looked so good. The man behind the counter was extremely courteous and helpful. We got two bags of almond cookies to nibble as we continued our walk. They were absolutely delicious down to the last bite! If you find yourself doing the mid-morning Stockton Street shuffle, this is a perfect place to whet an appetite!
