We walked here after getting off the ferry from Alcatraz. It was cold and so windy. We dined in the restaurant upstairs and had our first taste of Clam chowder as entree... IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Heaven on a plate. We both had a fish dish for our main meals and both dishes were incredible.
Our waiter was so lovely. Truly a memorable evening.

Not a small bakery, but a large eatery with lots of selection and seating. I had the chowder soup in a bread basket and half sandwich (premium) which was tasty and filling. The rest of the family had pancakes which were excellent as well. Attracts a lot of tourists. On the pricey side, but the offerings were well prepared and very fresh. Lots of hustle and bustle.

This is the oldest sourdough bakery in SF!! I Loved the tour to see how traditional sourdough is made and with how much love they handle this huge amount! The food was very good. I will come back!!

We viewed the bread making operation and were excited to return for lunch. Boy were we disappointed. The clam chowder in the bread bowl was average at best. The pizza was possibly the worst that I have had. The ingredients were sparse and the tomatoes were pale pink in color. DiGiornos frozen pizzas are much better sad to say.
Tour the facility. It's interesting and free. Food is not worth sitting down for.
