“Great location, average rooms....”
Reviewed 1 May 2012

This hotel is in a wonderful location. The rooms are small and almost dorm like. If you prefer to have a window that opens - request that type of room. I love the fresh water dispenser on each floor ... great idea. As well, there is a closet on each floor with extra amenities. VERY helpful staff - service was excellent.

I stayed at Club Quarters on Clay Street for 3 days in April. When I arrived on the weekend, they were busy remodelling the front desk area so it was a little chaotic and loud but I got checked in quickly. My first room on the 9th floor had a terrible view and the bathroom door was locked/not working. They assigned me a room on the 8th with no issue and I had a nice partial view of the bay. The room is very small but sufficient. The TV was disappointing in size but at least is was a modern flat screen. The bathroom only provides a shower but does provide adequate vanity space. I would not recommend staying in this room with more than 2 people. The bottles of filtered water near the elevator landing were a nice touch.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the bay.

This hotel seems to cater to the working person during the week but wants to keep rooms filled on weekends. The room was not overly spacious but was comfortable. There was only the bed and a working desk. The one odd thing was that the flat screen tv was on the far side of the desk--as far away from the bed as one could get. But because there was no other furniture in the room that is where it had to be. The bed linens were nicer quality than a lot of hotels. It also had a window that opened to get in fresh San Francisco air! An interesting side is that they have unlimited drinking water on each floor. You just fill up their water bottles and you are good to go. There is a large sitting room downstairs that I would guess business people use. The other nice thing about this hotel if you book it on a weekend is the parking garage a block away only charges a flat rate of $7. It a very nice walk down to the embarcadero. The front desk personnel couldn't have been nicer. All in all, this was a good find.

We stayed here for the weekend and got a great deal since the Financial District is pretty much dead on Saturday and Sunday. However, it's a quick (less than 5 min.) walk to the Ferry Building, Union Square, and other neighborhoods. We used Hotels.com and secured a small room with a Full/Queen bed for $99 a night.

The Elephant & Castle pub next door was a convenient option and was open till midnight, which was nice. The hotel itself has a lot to offer: primary, an amazing roof deck with great views and tables should you want to have a drink up there.

We stayed in the smallest room option (I think called a Club room?), and it was definitely small! But having stayed in older hotels in San Francisco before, it was nice comparatively. Good amenities in the room, and cool filtered water stations in each floor's hallway.

Room Tip: They have self-serve check in and check out, at a kiosk in the lobby. Unless you are familiar stayin...

I recently stayed here to avoid having to drive or take public transit (or heaven forbid, a taxi) home after a night out. The room was small, but I've actually stayed in a smaller (and way less nice) room in SF for the same price. Parking is a bit of a pain, but hey - that's San Francisco for you! I loved the bottled water dispensers at the end of the hallway - brilliant!

I would absolutely stay here again. It was a great value for the price we paid.
