We just finished a visit with Lulu the Lobster Boat and Tony and Jenn as a purchAsed excursion off the Grandeur of the Seas NE and Canada Cruise. Hands down this awesome experience made the cruise worthwhile. The crew of the Lulu was not only very fun but also highly informative. This excursion teaches you the realities of lobster fishing in Maine in and entertaining and very informative and interactive way all while respecting nature and the important business as that lobster finishing in this area represent. Can’t say more than just top shelf fun that should not be missed when visiting bar harbor.

It was an ok lobster boat tour. We have done another one in Portland that was much better. On this one, they started out by showing us a lighthouse and some seals that were on some rocks. That was fine. Then we went to pull up some lobster traps. We did see lobsters and a baby crab. Anyone on the boat that wanted to hold them could, but they would not let anyone throw them back in the water, the workers had to do that. It was a full tour, no room to move around. And they do not have a license in order to keep any lobsters. So if you were hoping to buy some off of them at the end you can't. My kids were kind of bored by the end.

Hi Jesse, thanks for the feedback. Our policy (for the safety of the guests) is that we allow holding the lobsters when they are banded (so that no one gets a finger....or some other body part...crushed!). We obviously can't throw the lobsters back with bands on, so it means our staff needs to do that. As far as keeping the lobsters, we are very concerned with the sustainability of the lobster industry and we certainly don't want to be competing with the full time lobstermen and women who make a living by catching and selling lobsters. For that reason we focus on the educational nature of the industry and encourage our guests to buy lobsters from normal suppliers such as lobster pounds and restaurants in the area!

Having traveled to Maine a number of times in the past for business, this was my first trip purely for pleasure. We were on a cruise and stopped in Bar Harbor for the day. Lulu Lobster Boat was our only excursion and well worth it. The day was cold, rainy and the fog lifted only occasionally so our enjoyment of all the sites was hampered. The boat is only partially enclosed so dress warm if you have similar weather conditions. In spite of this we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and learned a great deal about Bar Harbor and the lobster industry in the USA as a whole. I cannot say what the sights may have been like had we experienced better weather. In spite of that this was still a very worthwhile experience and would recommend.

I never thought I would enjoy a lobster boat tour but I can honestly say I did. The team did a superior job with this tour. I learned more than I ever need to know about lobsters, especially how to pick the best one to eat! They pull up a couple of traps and pass around the lobsters. Seeing the seals was an added treat. The boat is covered & has plastic windows but there is a large opening by the driver so they can pull up the traps so air does enter the boat. They provide a lap blanket if you need one. Such an entertaining tour as well as educational. You won't be disappointed with this tour. Book online early- don't wait until you are there. The tour we took in the afternoon was sold out. Think there were 2 cruise ships in port that day.

We had a delightful afternoon spending a couple of hours on the Lulu lobster boat. The guide did an outstanding job explaining what we were seeing and doing. He made it enjoyable for all ages. We thought the kids on board had a fabulous time as he let them hold lobsters and talk about them. This was a fun experience for us.
