“great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2007

Stayed at Acadia Pines for the first time this summer. We were very happy with the size of the room. Very clean and comfortable. The pool was wonderful, large by motel standards and clean and refreshing. It sits behind a building so it can't be seen by the road, surrounded by trees, very private. The staff in the office were friendly and helpful. Although the motel is on the main road you wouldn't know it, with all the tall trees and grass, it's a very relaxing place. People were barbequeing and using their camp stoves for breakfast outside. Adirondack chairs and lawn swings were perfect. Would definately stay again. Pat from PA

I must say I was very impressed with how clean the room was! I wasn't sure what to expect paying 80.00 per night (I think that is cheap). Our room was the cleanest we ever stayed in. If we ever get back to Maine we will be staying there again.

  • Liked — Close to Bar Harbor and VERY clean
  • Disliked — Had to go into office area for ice machine and wasn't available 24/7

Between the 6 wooded acres and the 48' heated pool surrounded by trees (can't see the pool from the road), you can't beat this price. I stayed here on June 20 as I was travelling from Moncton, Canada to Washington, D.C. I paid $48 for a room with 1 queen bed, cable tv, ac, hair dryer, etc. I had views of trees both in the front of my room and in the back. It was set back a good way off the road so it was quiet. It was very clean and had cute white wicker furniture in addition to the bed and bureau. The new owners are, in fact , still renovating, but consider the prices. Regular rooms without kitchenettes run between $48 and $89. If you can get these prices on such pretty property with a heated pool like this one anywhere on Mt. Desert Island, I'd like to know where it is!

  • Liked — Price, birch trees and heated pool
  • Disliked — Rooms are a little smaller than those in newer hotels

We arrived at the Acadia Pines Motel (formerly Dreamwood Pines) for the 4rth of July Holiday.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. When we entered our room, the bedroom and bathroom was very clean (if not a bit dated). The refrigerator was warm so we asked the friendly staff to turn on the fridge. The small kitchen was very dated (1950's) had a tiny fridge, 3 electric burners and a small oven (both the stove and oven were dirty). After the fridge was turned on, we turned on the oven air conditioner and TV which blew a fuse. Again, the owner's son came over right away and helps us out and the power was restored quickly.
The bed was extremely comfortable. Housekeeping came in daily to change the towels which was nice. The swimming pool was fairly clean and heated and much enjoyed.
The last night of our stay the small ice machine ran out of ice. When I asked the person behind the desk, he mentioned that people took lots of ice to fill up their coolers. In any case we had no ice.
Acadia Pines is centrally located (Route 3,5 miles from Bar Harbor)) with a 7-11 type store next door and miniature golf right across the street. Even with this, it was very quiet after 9PM at night
All in all, with a few more renovations (new kitchen), this will be a really nice motel.
My wife and I would stay again despite the bugs at night and old kitchen as the staff really does a nice job in accommodating their lodgers.
