Tucked away in a quaint corner at the edge of Kailua, this restaurant packs a wallop. The prix fixe dinner runs about $40 but it is well worth every dollar. The air staff washes your hands in rose water then serves you heaping bowls of Harris soup and a large platter of preparared vergetables (hummus, tabouleh, pickled Tomita ones, etc.) plus a basket of fresh breads. Pace yourself because these treats are just the start. There is a phyllo sweet stuffed dish in between but next comes one of 20 or so entrees (mostly lamb and chicken). Then on to dessert and mint tea. The experience is a delight.

We were looking for a fun dining experience for the evening and were very excited to see a Moroccan restaurant right there in Kailua (not having to drive to Honolulu is a plus!). Friendly staff seated us at a low round table in a corner so 4 of us would be able to sit on the couch seating if desired but the floor cushions were fun too. It's the first time I've ever eaten an entire meal with my fingers. lol. The whole experience is fun though. The hand washings, each course brought out and presented, shared meal, relaxed and timed perfectly. Plenty of time for conversation with some great BYOB wine. The food was delicious, service very good, atmosphere relaxing, good A/C. We had a late reservation because they were booked until 7:45 but that turned out great. The dinner rush cleared out and we had a lovely time.Good variety of entree's to choose from. Way more food than the 4 of us could finish.

It is next to a laundromat which is not an auspicious beginning. But inside is Casablanca.

The food is good especially for vegetarians. It's comfortable like a living room.

Wanted to try this place for a while so took a friend who was visiting on her last night. We had the price fix menu and was sorely disappointed. We had the lamb tajine with eggplant. If you know Moroccan food you would expect the meal to come out in the tajine, but It came out plated. The lamb was super dry and not much sauce. I don't think there was any way this was cooked in a tajine! We also ordered rack of lamb, which had the strangest taste.....just not good. The dessert was supposed to be a funnel type cake with honey, my gag reflexes exploded on the first bite! It was pure oil doused in honey. Before the meal we were served a pastry that was supposed to be filled Witt chicken and spices. I thought they had brought dessert by mistake it was so sweet. Needless to say, we will not be going back! I have never rated a restaurant a one, it was that bad from beginning to end.

I miss when the place was separated between two buildings and had more of a harem feel. I also miss the service and the family actually being there to supervise. It's not the same. The food is alright.
