“Awesome location, Great Value”
Reviewed 6 May 2012

This is not the Ritz or the Four Seasons.

This is a very clean very simple condo complex in a great location on Napili Bay.

There are 2 pools, 1 hot tub and 2 restaurants on site.

The Gazebo restaurant is very popular, very good, and there is usually a long line to get in.

The Outrigger rooms are upgraded with tile floors and a good working kitchen (stove, dishwasher, refig, microwave, blender, etc).

This is a great place to relax and unwind, once you are here you will not want to leave!

Our stay at the resort was almost perfect. Great room with garden view and even view of the Ocean from the lanai. Perfectly equipped with all the kitchen wares and appliances you can think of. No problem to prepare a meal in the room. Large fridge too. Great BBQ's available in the garden and close to the beach. The room was serviced every three days and staid very clean. Coffee was supplied. Internet Lan connection free. Parking right close and free. Restaurant for dinner and "The Gazebo" for BF and lunch. The little beach of Napili Bay and close, the beach at Kapalua are great for snorkeling, swimming. Lots of fish, sea turtles...
Only problem we encountered: The safe provided in our room failed to open with all our important stuff in it. Had the maintenance crew for 2 hours trying in vain to fix. They had to cut it! That wasted one afternoon. (The last day!!) In the process I missed my early plane booking.
But other then that, a perfect location to spend your holidays. I would go back.

Room Tip: We were in room 231. This is on the second floor. Better view from the lanai, quieter then the rooms...

For those of you who prefer not to read longer reviews, the short of it is that we found this to be a nice, clean, comfortable complex in a pretty area of Maui. It had more of a homey residence feel than that of a hotel. We’d absolutely stay here again.
We booked a studio through a WestJet package. Being scuba divers, we requested a ground floor unit so we wouldn’t have to lug our gear up stairs. This is also an important reason for us choosing a low rise complex like this. Outrigger honoured our request and we were given ground floor unit number 127, facing the garden pool. There’s enough foliage in-between to not feel like you’re part of the pool deck, yet it was nice and close for a swim. The water was a nice temperature. Not too cold at all. The hot tub is there as well, and we made use of this several nights. Our lanai patio was spacious, with a table, 4 chairs and a couple of hooks. It was great for drying our dive gear. There was a grassy area as well, with lots of trees and birds. For not having a view it was still a good location. The nearby Koi pond is a nice feature too. The grounds are well maintained and there are a few benches and picnic tables, as well as a shuffleboard and chess set. The BBQ’s were nice and handy, and were always kept very clean. We made good use of these. We spent most of our time off property diving, but when we were around in the afternoons it never seemed too busy around the pools.
Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all the dishes we needed. The bathroom had double sinks and lots of drawers. The closet was spacious. There was plenty of space for clothes. It just has a shower stall, which was fine for us. Lots of hot water. It has a bit of a “shub” which could be used for giving small kids a bath, except there was no plug. I’m sure we could have rounded one up if we had needed it.
Being an Outrigger managed unit it didn’t have any of the extras, like beach chairs, mats, coolers, that sort of thing. With owner’s week starting up there, we met some very nice people who owned studio units next to and close to ours. Their units contained all those nice to have extras. We would certainly consider going that route and renting one of these directly next time. Not that we had any issues with Outrigger management. We didn’t find them overly friendly in general, but certainly no complaints. The service was very good. There was one guy at the desk who gave us plenty of beach towels at the end of each day from the cupboard behind the desk. This was handy for us since we would head out diving well before beach towel service opened in the laundry room. Speaking of which, the laundry room had plenty of coin washers and dryers for doing laundry there.
There’s been some comments from other reviewers about noise. Perhaps because we were in a studio and our bed was closer to the pool area than the parking, we didn’t have any problems with road or parking lot noise. We heard birds and rain more than cars. The first night there was a loud, drunk, belligerent woman yelling out by the pool, when we returned from grocery shopping, but management seemed to handle it well and we never heard her again. There was also a family who thought it was perfectly acceptable to let their children splash and screech in the pool until 9pm or later, but what can you do. You can get people like this wherever you stay. When they weren’t around, and after they checked out it was peaceful. There were other families who were more respectful. Later at night it was quiet and we slept with the just the screen door closed. No need for A/C, at least at this time of year. It wasn’t at all hot.
I was up early to walk to the water’s edge and check the weather and water conditions. People started to line up for the gazebo around 7:00. Since we headed out every morning, we didn’t eat there, but the last morning we did take out. This is a handy thing for guests. You can call and order your breakfast and pick it up in 10 minutes, then enjoy it on your lanai. No waiting in line. The macadamia pancakes were indeed delicious. The orders were huge. We could have made do with one. We didn’t eat at the other restaurant. The one night we planned to we found it was closed. Apparently they do a BBQ instead, but we missed it so we went down the beach to the Sea House. The food was excellent there and the setting on the water is so nice.
On the last day we had a very late flight, so asked if we could do late checkout. They offered this for $25 and you could stay until 3pm... if the unit was available. Ours wasn’t, so we had to check out at noon. but they offered to keep our luggage behind the desk, and even let us use a hospitality unit for an hour later on. Unfortunately our last day was rainy and not that warm, so we used the hot tub instead of the beach and pool.
Staying in the Napili area was a bit inconvenient for us, since we did most of our diving south of Kihei, which meant for a lot of driving. But it’s such a pretty area with the palm trees and more of a Hawaiian feel, and we did enjoy our stay at this complex, so I still think we’d choose the driving over staying in Kihei. Next time we hope to stay longer to have more R&R time. The shore diving was awesome though. We saw lots of turtles and even a couple of sharks in a cave.

Room Tip: Ground floor units have more space and easier access to pools and BBQs. Also better for scuba divers...

This hotel is in an excellent location, right on the water of quiet Napili Bay north of Lahaina. It has many fish and turtles in the waters, with a nice beach for swimming and sun bathing.
The Gazebo serves a great breakfast, but get in line before 7:15am if you don't want to wait an hour for a table.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms are perfect!

It's 6 pm, and as I write I sit on the lanai of my studio unit at Napaili Shores. So peaceful, doves cooing, no sign of other people anywhere. My husband and I arrived last night after the front desk closed (after 10pm);, we were met by the security guard who checked my ID and handed me a key with instructions to register in the morning. After traveling all day it was a welcome relief to have him guide us to the room, make sure the key worked, then disappear so we could drop in our bed immediiately after putting thre groceries away. After waking to the sound of birds and gentle breezes we checked out the fully loaded kitchen, with blender, stove, refrig, microwave, dishes, cook ware, and granite countertop, we find it to be one of the nicest studio units we've ever stayed in-anywhere. We had breakfast on our lanai before checking in to our room with the front desk at about ten o'clock. Our check-in gift was a fresh pineaple and great shopping bag to carry goodies to the beach or souveniers back home. The room is clean, free of noisy air conditioning (celing fans only), and faces the ocean for a partial ocean view and great tradewinds. The entire hotel is tobacco free, and geared toward a relaxed vacation. This is not a hotel for the party crowd. If you're looking for a hotel reminiscent of old Hawaaii with modern conveniences, this is the place for you.

There are two restaurants on premises, one serving breakfast and lunch (the Gazebo) and the other serving dinner (Cafe O'Lei) and adult beverages, both reasonably priced with pretty good menus, but neither provides room service. The hotel provides internet service (complimentary) via cable/modem, so be sure to bring your cable -no wireless here-but if you foget your cable, no worries-Office Max in Kahalui will have you covered.

It's time to go, we're off for an eveningswim before dinner-we just hve to decide which pool to swim in (there are two). or do we swim Napili Cove, which is accessed via a gate with hotel key.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs to get the best cooling winds and ocean views.
