We stayed two nights in Condo 218. It is back a bit from the beach, yet it is a lovely location. The beach and water can be seen from the Lanai and you are just steps from the beach. It has a full kitchen with good cookware and utensils. It is close to the Napili Market. The queen size bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The beach and water is wonderful. I would be happy to stay here again.

Best of all there were sea turtles in the rocks (left side of beach) feeding in the morning and afternoons. We could stand on the beach and see them swimming in the water. For an excellent breakfast visit The Gazebo. It's a long wait, but the food is incredible. Better yet call in an order, pick it up and eat on your Lanai.

We had a great stay at Napili Bay Condo Unit 201. The unit is beautifully decorated, has a king sized bed with a foam mattress and a small but functional kitchen. The complex is steps away from Napili Bay, which was great for snorkling and stand up paddleboarding. Then the surf came up and the bay became great for boogie boarding (the condo supplies 2). The welcoming fruit basket is a nice touch.

If you're not looking for luxury but would like to be right on the beach, look no further. This is a small, older but well maintained complex. The unit we stayed in (218) was very quiet and stocked with everything you could wish for for a comfortable stay. Being surrounded by tropical vegetation it was a bit dark, but the lanai offered a very nice view of the beach and ocean. Plus, the unit stayed a bit cooler during the day (no need for air conditioning). We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Fair warning: this beach-front lodging is not for first timers to Maui. If you rent a car and feel obligated to drive out everyday to see must-do tourist attractions, don't stay here. If you cannot hang around Napili Bay for a good part of your day, don't stay here. Napili Bay is not in Lahaina. It is about 15-20 min highway drive to the north from Lahaina, and 1 hr drive from the airport.

Ideal for: people who have seen and done most if not all of Maui's tourist attractions. People who want to live like local islanders and not as tourists.

Primer: Napili Bay is one of a few still secluded, crescent-shaped bays on Maui. Plenty of ocean activities in this generally calm bay, such as swim, snorkel, peddle board, sunbathing, etc. In fact, I will write a travel article on Napili Bay on TripAdvisor after this review. Of the dozen of lodging choices in this area, Napili Bay Resort has the combined advantages in value, property upgrade and management, and location.

What I like about #209: 1. It is the corner unit on the second floor facing the beach and ocean. On the balcony, the left side is open, facing Napili Surf at a distance. Only the right side has a partition with the next unit's balcony. 2. The interior decor is modern Hawaiian style, with a light color scheme. 3. All utilities are modern, just like what you can see from the website's photos. 4. During our stay in mid-Oct, day temp. was around 85°F. I needed to turn on the two ceiling fans only around noon time. In fact, even without the fans, cool ocean breezes can circulate just by opening the shutter windows on the front and back of the unit. 5. On the first day, there was a welcome basket of tropical fruits, snacks, and shopping bag. There was also a kitchen basket stocking new kitchen towels, paper towels, detergents, and scrub pad. 6. Beach items are available, such as 2 boogie boards, 2 beach mini-chairs, and ice chest. 7. Wifi is shared with the next unit, but the speed is darn good. 8. Nice sunset view everyday, unobstructed whether on the balcony or beach. 9. The mattress is top comfort quality, the balcony chairs are swiveled and cushioned (we spent many hours there!) The plates and glasses in the kitchen are so colorful! Coffee filters are well stocked.

Tip: Since the unit is virtually next to the beach and ocean, the ocean sound at night can be loud for city folks. I have to shut down all the front windows before sleep time. In retrospect I could have used some cotton plugs in my ears to reduce the sound!

If you cannot get a beach front unit, don't despair. I have seen some large families who rented garden- or mountain-view units walked to the beach in the morning, bringing along all comfort items. They returned in late afternoon, and had BBQ dinner in the sheltered outdoor cooking area.

Compliment to Chuck at Aloha Condos, who graciously replied my email after my stay and promised to improve a few minor items.
