We stayed here by chance as our travel agent had trouble finding a place that wasn't booked. It turned out to be incredible. It was more than we needed with a full size living room, dining area, and small kitchen area. It had a pool and tennis courts. This would be an excellent choice for someone who is staying on the island for their entire vacation. It is nicely located between Kapalua Beach and Kaanapali Beach. It's also close to Lahaina Harbor. There was adequate parking (for a fee of course). The best feature was a stackable washer/dryer. This was about half way through our island hopping trip and it was nice to wash swimsuits and towels. There is a beach right across the street.

My only complaint would be the office hours aren't the most convenient. Unlike other hotels, they do not have someone present 24/7. Not realizing this, we got there after 5 pm and they were closed. Our key was left for us but we were advised we would need to visit the office the next day to be reissued a key. We didn't realize that meant once we left our room, we wouldn't be able to get back in without speaking to someone. Luckily, we had a break in our day and were able to return to the resort before they closed.

Came for a family vacation. Had a 2 story place. Although the parking lot wasn't that far, it was not convenient to get to the room. The place itself was very nice but not very well planned. First, the location of the room, you can hear the cars on the highway ALL night long - even with the windows and everything closed. This was in the back bedroom. We were located near the back of the property. The 'main' bedroom was in the front but it more like a loft setting. Since it is set up like a loft, there are no walls and you can hear EVERYTHING. If someone goes downstairs to the kitchen, you can hear them not to mention the light they turn on. Definitely no quiet or private. If you want private, you can take the noisy room in the back that has a door. Also, if you are downstairs, you will be able to hear and see the light from the bedroom. Front desk etc have only certain hours so it wasn't like you could go to the lobby with any requests. We had infants with us so definitely not convenient (quietness etc.) Maybe the smaller floor plans are quieter but this larger one was not. Also, we had the air conditioner run and you can hear it every time it turned on and off - and it was a noisy unit! Even if we did not have any infants, not very practical.

We had a two bedroom condo here and our group consisted of 2 couples. They have a nice master bedroom with a king size bed but in spite of requesting something other than twin beds in the other room, we got twin beds separated by a night stand. The beds are comfortable, but.... And the first few days were a bit blustery and there were no extra blankets or pillows in our unit. One interesting but rather inconvenient issue with the master bedroom is that it has a view out large windows, but it is situated over the living room and there is not a complete closure between that room and the living room below, so everything that goes on can easily be heard by anyone still awake and in the living room below. The rooms are nice and the kitchen is well equipped. If you stay on the lower floors you do not get much view of the ocean. Aside from the pool, which was freezing cold, and the hot tub, there wasn't much to do on the grounds themselves. But just across the street there is lots of beach and some parks nearby. There is also a grocery store and pizza place nearby that one can walk to....and oh, an excellent coffee shop!

1. KVR is an RCI time share exchange resort on Maui. Two 7 story bldgs, with the 12 story Kahana Beach resort across the street on the beach.

2. Get milk, granola, POG, pineapple, $5 48 oz rotisserie chicken, macadamia nuts at Kahului Costco near the airport.

3. Drove 60 minutes covering 29 miles.

4.  7 story KVR building, with angled lanai walls, seen from highway after the Akahele exit.  Take the Hoohui exit at McDonalds..

5. We arrive at 2:30pm at the registration desk. Sign says back at 3pm. 3pm a lady arrives behind the desk. We ask if our room, reserved 6 months in advance for 9 nights, is ready.

6. She says she doesn't know if housekeeping has cleaned the room. Come back at 4pm. Can't she call housekeeping?

7. We have perishable foods in the car. Lady says to use the refrigerator at the Kahana Sands hotel across the street.

8. We drive south 1.9 miles, 2 traffic signals south to Times Supermarket, the closest supermarket, to get salad dressing, brown sugar, bread, raisins, and oatmeal.

9. 4pm, we get the card keys to the room. We drive past bldg F and up the hill to the E bldg.

10. Sufficient lighted paved parking at night. 92 units in the complex, and 100+ parking spaces.

11. Bldg F is next to Lower Honaoapiilani Rd, and closest to the ocean. Bldg E is farthest from ocean and separated from highway by wire fence.

12. 54 of the 92 units are owner occupied or rented out on VBRO or AIRBNB. An example is vrbo.com/497130. These include 21 of the 24 top level units, and 19 of the 24 next to top level units -all the units with the best ocean views.

13.  28 of the 38 timeshare units have no ocean view. These include the first level of the F bldg, and the 1st/2nd levels of the E bldg.

14. 7 of the 20 two bdrm timeshare units have ocean views: F210, F209, F604, E414, E606, E607, E407.

15.  3 of the 18 one bdrm timeshare units have ocean views: E606, E605, and E604.

16. The worst 2 bdrm unit is E401, 2nd level on hwy, with 402 and 403 next door. E301 is the worst 1 bdrm unit at ground level on hwy, with 302 and 303 next door.

17. Ground floor lanai less secure, accessible to cockroaches. 13 of the 20 single bdrm timeshare units, and 5 of the 18 two bdrm timeshare units are on the ground floor. Only 4 of the 24 ground units are owner occupied.

18. 1 of the card keys does not work. Sister hurries 150 yards to registration before they close at 5pm.

19. E404 is a modern 2 bdrm unit. Fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, beautiful granite counters. Washer and dishwasher detergent provided.

20. Dining room with glass dinner table, chairs, living room with 40" flat screen TV, and lanai on the first floor.

21. Interior carpeted stairwell to 2nd floor. Twin beds in bdrm overlook parking lot/hwy Wooden slats open for ventilation. 30" flat screen TV.

22. In one bdrm units the bedroom will be next to the front door, and parking lot, with wooden slats for ventilation, adjacent to the kitchen. Flow through ventilation by leaving open the front and lanai door.

23. E404 has two bathrooms, each with its own bath. Master bedroom in loft with electronic safe, 40" flat screen TV, open to downstairs living room.

24. AC in the bottom window at floor level in the dining room, next to the pull out sofa bed. Ceiling fans in the 2nd level bedrooms.

25. Open up the wooden slats of the bedroom for the 20 mph late afternoon breezes.  The breeze goes down the stairwell, away from the loft bedroom, and out the screen door of the lanai.

26. No ocean view, on 3rd floor as a 20 foot hedge of trees blocks our view to the southwest. E604, above us, the ocean view is partially obstructed rooftops and by lanai walls to the west.

27. Sister closes wooden slats in bedroom to keep out highway noise.

28. Close the bedroom vents, and the loft bedroom would heat up, unless living room AC and loft ceiling fan running.

29. No overheating if bedroom vents, bedroom doors, and lanai screen door left open for several hours before sleep. 20+ mph wind every evening.

30. Wife turns on living room TV bothering me sleeping in loft bdrm.

31. Housekeeping comes on 4th day and 7th day, vacuums rugs, mops tile floors, changes the bed linen, bathroom towels, beach towels, cleans the counters, toilets, bath tubs, and empties the garbage.

32. Unheated swimming pool for polar bears, spa and tennis court with hitting wall.

33. Small Kahana beach across the road.

34. Black Angus and Outback closed in Kahana Gateway shopping center, leaving McDonalds, 0.3 mile walk north.

35, Dollie's Pub, Miso Phat Sushi, grocery store 0.2 mile walk north.

36. China Boat 0.6 mile drive north.  Not walkable as no sidewalks in that part of Honaopailiani Rd

37. Joey's, Maui Tacos, Mama's Rotisserie Ribs, Beach Bum BBQ, Napili Market in Napili Plaza 1.7 mile drive north.

38.  Times Supermarket, Slappy Cakes 1.9 mile walk south on sidewalks of Honaopailiani Rd.

39. Kapalua Beach 2.8 mile drive north, good for snorkeling. High surf warning 3 of 4 mornings.

40. Hiked Kapalua Coastal Trail and Dragon's Teeth 3.6 mile drive north. Highlight of our stay.

Quiet place to stay. Great view of the ocean. Plenty of parking. At the right time of year you should be able to see humpback whales from the balcony of the unit. Our two room unit had two levels; living, kitchen, and balcony were on the first level and the bedrooms and bathrooms were on the upper level. Lots of windows that can open and create a cross breeze through the unit. The only air conditioning unit was on the first floor and it was a window unit – so the upper floor was very warm in late afternoon and early evening.
