“Beautiful Beach, not crowded”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2012

The beach has a gorgeous beach walk for everyone. There were not any rocks that were in the way. Always enjoyed walking everyday looking out with gorgeous sunsets!

“great beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2012

This beach is truly the best beach in Maui. Is clean, the waves are calmer here and is not rockly at all. You can snorkel, paddle board or just relax and enjoy the view. 2 beach chairs with umbrella are $37 to rent daily...(hint)...buy a beach chair from Costco or Safeway and bring it to the beach with you and then just hand it off to another guest before you leave).

“Two worlds of Kaanapali Beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2012

Most people think of Kaanapali Beach as the part from Black Rock to the Hyatt. It is part of Kaanapali Beach. This is the south section. It is more commercial with a lot to offer. There is swimming and snorkeling at Black Rock and to a limited extent swimming all the way to Hyatt. But there are coral reefs from mid way down and steep drop offs near Black Rock that can add a challenge. The best part of south Kaanapali is the board walk. It stretches the whole distance and is a great place to stroll or exercise. It connects the various accommodations and Whaler's Village which is home to nice shops and good restaurants.
But Kaanapali Beach also has a north end. It is accessible by going through the Sheraton or from a few public parking lots off Hwy 30. It has a large sandy beach with gentle waves and fairly shallow swimming area. It also has a boardwalk for a mile or so that is just over the dunes from the ocean that is nice for walking or running. There are a variety of condos and older hotels with a few restaurants (Castaways and Dukes), and a little convenience store at Royal Lahaina Hotel which are on the boardwalk more or less.

“Beautiful but windy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2012

Ka'anapali is great but this is the windy side of the island. The beach is extremely kid friendly with Black Rock as a great snorkel spot. You'll find lots to do here-from shopping (a lot of the same shops are here as in Wailea) and beautiful ocean front dining. Also beautiful sunsets and a nice jogging path!
