We had a great time here. Rooms are nicely appointed and despite the fact I was slightly concerned about no air conditioning the room remained a comfortable temperature. The beach is nice - was full one day and all chairs were used but other than that was no issue getting a chair. It seemed a lot of the guests return each year at the same time and had been for years.

The only thing I wasn't overly impressed about was we got a notice early into our trip that they were going to be 'spraying for pest control' mid week and that we needed to stay out of our rooms for one to two hours after this happened and if you had a child under one to come and talk to the front desk.

We were not overly happy about this happening so my husband went to get some details after we had packed up all our suitcases, put any food, etc. away so it wouldn't be affected by the spray, etc. When he went to talk to them they said oh, that has been cancelled. It was the morning it was supposed to be happening so it would have been nice if they told us that before we had basically removed everything from our room. They also explained that it was localized (i.e. along baseboards) and not a 'spray' as the notice had indicated.

Aloha!

Thank you for your lovely review, we are very pleased to hear that you both had a great stay with us.

Unfortunately, yes as bothersome as they are we do have to keep on top of all insects on the island by doing quarterly pest control. We try to schedule them when we are less
Busy but due to high occupancy and the time of the year it doesn’t always work out best for everyone. You may also ask when making reservations in the future if there will be any scheduled
During your stay with us.

Have a wonderful winter and we look forward to seeing you back here at the Mauian soon.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Apr 28-30, 2015, as part of our anniversary trip to Maui. It was by far my accommodationin Maui.

HOTEL GROUNDS: well-maintained, clean and lush. The plants that grow there are simply beautiful!

ROOMS: tasteful, clean and spacious with small kitchenette. I loved the glass window at the end of the room that provided a natural backdrop for the room with its view of exotic plants. Our room was on the ground floor, but it was still very nice and quiet to sit outside and relax, especially at night when it provided an opportunity for star-gazing. Washroom was large and clean with delicious-smelling organic toiletries; water pressure and temperature were excellent and easy to adjust. There is no TV or phone in the room, but they do have free Wi-Fi. Also, there is not air conditioning, but worry not – this hotel has the neatest air cooling system that I have ever seen. The windows at the front and the back of the room have mosquito nets and are made of plastic slats which open up and allow the air to flow through. This system keeps the room at a perfectly fresh both at daytime and nighttime without any noise or freezing coldness.

FOOD: breakfast was served in the tiny room close to the entrance of the hotel, but barely anyone used it. Instead, most people – including us – would bring a tray, plates and cups from their room, fill them up and then return to their rooms to have breakfast on the balcony or patio. We loved our outdoors breakfasts! The food was basic (as can be seen on the photos), but sufficient.

POOL: we never used the pool, although it was right across from our room behind a lush hedge. However, it was cleaned every day and looked nice. Also, it had grilling stations right next to it, so if we had been travelling with friends, we would have for sure had a chill evening with a picnic by the pool!

BEACH: from our room, the beach was a minute away, right across a picturesque pond. I loved the beach – it was crescent shaped bay with gorgeous, clean white sand and turquoise water where my husband got to snorkel with a giant sea turtle. During the time that we were there, the water was tranquil and beautiful every day. Beach chairs were complimentary.

SERVICE: check-in and check-out were seamless.

WEATHER IN APRIL: when we checked the weather forecast before leaving Toronto, it showed thunderstorms and rain for our stay in Lahaina, but we were greeted by sunshine and warm weather. We had one short tropical rainstorm while we were there, but it passed quickly. It is windy, but that is just a general feature of Maui.

The Mauian delivered. Our room was clean and comfortable. The Wiki-Wiki breakfast was a high point of each day that we were on Maui. We were literally steps from one of the best snorkeling beaches. Close to dining and other sites. Highly recommended. The only criticism is that while the management said that our room would accommodate four adults, this was only the case if one adult was willing to sleep on the floor on a futon, which was really a cloth covered trifold piece of soft 2 inch foam. We all took turns with this uncomfortable option. Other rooms have a two person size pullout couch which would have been better. Still, an excellent place!

Room Tip: If there are more than 4 adult size people, make sure to select a room with a larger pullout couch!

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time and leaving the Mauian a wonderful review. We are glad you enjoyed our complimentary continental breakfast every morning, we have had so many great compliments on our cinnamon raisin bread.

We agree, the snorkeling out here at Napili Bay is right outside your door and one of the best snorkeling spots on the island.

We are sorry that the futon was not comfortable for you and your guests, unfortunately it is a twin size folding mattress and usually children would sleep on those. We do have units that will actually accommodate 4 adults comfortably, they are our pool view hotel rooms, these rooms will come with 2 queen size Tempurpedic beds and the views will overlook the beautiful landscaped grounds and swimming pool.

Have a wonderful fall and winter and we look forward to seeing you again at the Mauian.

Absolutely ideal location, well kept, well managed property. Rooms updated somewhat recently and were nicely appointed. Only complaints were the lack of A/C (as we were there during unusual humidity) noise levels are high (you hear everything going on in adjacent suites), and the wifi is weak at best. Great value, nice beach, great location.

Aloha,

Thank you for taking the time and leaving us a great review. We are pleased to hear that you had a wonderful time here at the Mauian.

We pride ourselves in our beautiful grounds which are just steps away from the ocean. As for as the humidity, we do agree with you. This is the hottest summer we have ever had. Weather is starting to cool down and we got the trade winds back, which is a relief to all of us here.

Please call us for your next visit, we look forward to hearing from you again.

We stayed at the Mauian for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. Our second floor room was breezy and the ceiling fans were very well placed to keep us cool. It did get warm, but was cool enough at night for sleeping. The room is really, really well designed for a beach vacation, with lots of hooks and bars for towels and wet suits. The rooms are attractive and contain everything you might need, and the general atmosphere is very relaxing.

And the beach... I cannot imagine a more perfect beach. It's gorgeous, not crowded, and the water is very calm. The Mauian provides beach chairs and towels, fresh fruit and baked goods for breakfast, free parking, and wifi (slow but acceptable... don't expect to stream Netflix).

My only word of caution is on the openness of the room design. As other reviews mention, it's necessary to keep the windows open and blinds up to catch the breeze. That means privacy is a bit diminished - definitely on the first floor, a bit less on the second. Sound also travels, and while nobody was very loud or rowdy, we found ourselves waking up at the same time as the other guests.

Room Tip: Request a room on the second floor for more privacy and better breeze
