“Maui Kai is a perfect location for Maui”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

We stayed at the Maui Kai for 5 days in May. It was a really fantastic location. One of the Maui Kai owners, Donna Bender, helped us book a studio unit, #603. It was clean, and nicely furnished. It had everything we needed to have a very comfortable stay. It even had the bonus of boogie boards and beach chairs, though I don't think all units have this.

The absolute best feature is that every unit has a private lanai (balcony) facing the ocean. We enjoyed drinks on the lanai with a sunset every night. The sunsets were incredible - even better than the sunset at Haleakala if you ask me. The condo is *right* on the water. You are literally spitting distance to the ocean, (but don't spit!).

Staying in a condo like this is a great way to save some money. We cooked for ourselves way more than we normally would on a vacation, so we ate healthier. We also made use of the free barbecues by the pool area.

The location is just a bit north of Lahaina, and is very convenient. You are right beside a huge supermarket which is great for filling up on groceries. There are lots of excellent snorkelling spots nearby.

The staff at the front desk was extremely welcoming and friendly. We made use of their free DVD rentals, and they had a lot of current stuff to choose from - all of the recent Best Picture nominees. Another feature that I was happy to have was free WiFi in every room. It was unclear to me from the website whether this was a standard feature, but I was assured it was by the front staff.

I'd highly recommend Maui Kai and hope to stay there again some time.

Awesome! Great room and amenities. A big Mahalo to the owners! A relaxing getaway; private, yet on the beach, any closer you'd have to be on a boat. The lapping of the waves without getting your feet wet and you can do that too with easy access to the beachfront and walk along Kaanapali beach. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Aloha!

Mahalo for setting us up with such a wonderful place for our anniversary!

Thanks also to the Nickel's, owners of room 806 (http://www.mauikai.org/), who went above and beyond the call of great customer service to find us this room since theirs was booked for the time we planned! Their prompt answers to our questions and confirming the details so we could finalize our other arrangements in a timely manner was most appreciated. They certainly extended the Aloha spirit and we would not hesitate to book arrangements with them again.

Maui Kai is an excellent place to stay. The location is perfect. It is great if you want to be right on the beach but in a smaller enviroment, rather than on the 20th floor facing the street.

We stayed in Maui Kai 403 from June 5-14th. We originally tried to rent 806, but it was already booked so the Art & Sophie, the owners of 806, assisted in us renting 403. It was fully equipped and had a wonderful lanai. It even included beach chairs, a boogie board, pool noodles, beach mat, and binoculars. We couldn't have asked for anything else. The Maui Kai property is wonderfully landscaped and well taken care of--the staff is busy every day cleaning the grounds and keeping things perfect! Although I worried about the pool being small from the pictures, it was great! There are more than enough chaise lounges, seating was never a problem and you didn't have to arrive at dawn to reserve a chair. The pool cabana has a fully equipped kitchen, tables & chairs, ping pong, puzzles, board games, and a lending library. There is also a covered outdoor dining area and 2 gas grills. What more could you need?
The office staff is very knowledgable and made great recommendations! We ate at restaurants they suggested and also did the Valley Isle Road to Hana tour, as suggested. We were never disappointed. Rowena is very friendly!!
Housekeeping did a great job of keeping our room clean and tidy! Jennie was very nice and friendly! She is the first housekeeper who has ever left a thank you note for her tip :D
We look forward to returning to Maui Kai in the future. A return visit cannot be soon enough!

We originally tried to book apartment 806 but unfortunately it wasn't available. But as luck would have it we booked through Art and Sophie Nickel who own Maui Kai 806 and 1006 and the latter was available. 1006 was on the top floor and we could see the fish in the sea from the window. It was amazing. A hidden gem as far as we were concerned and we would return tomorrow if we could. The staff at the Maui Kai were also very helpful. The apartment had beach chairs, a cool box and body boards. All I can say is that it had everything and on top of that the bed was very comfy.
