“Great value!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel in May of 2011. Having also stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which is considerably more expensive, I would say that the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is one of the best deals on Maui and definitely one of the best deals in Ka'anapali Beach. The rooms are a little dated but the grounds are immaculate, the customer service is excellent, and the beach...well, the beach is absolutely amazing. Located just steps from Black Rock, it's a great spot for lounging, people watching, and snorkeling. Despite the crowds on the beach, the coral near Black Rock is beautiful and inhabited by giant turtles and a wide variety of colorful fish. And while I'm usually not a sucker for this kind of thing, this review would have never happened if not for the fact that the hotel sent us a holiday card. Aloha!

Great hotel! Great staff! Great location! (stayed from april 20th-26th) First, after traveling almost 10hrs in a day to get there, you want everything else to go as smoothly as possible. We arrived at the hotel for check in, very friendly staff and very informative. When we got into our rooms we fell in love even more. Yes these rooms are very minimal, with just the basics, but that's all you need, you are in Hawaii right? If you come to Hawaii and spend most of your time in your room, go back home....but, the view was just fantastic, we upgraded to just the pool view, and not only did we get to see the pool, but we had a fabulous view of the ocean/black rock/mountains to our right. Ask for pool view and I doubt you will be disappointed!!! When we slept, we even kept the balcony windows open for the cool breeze and the sound of the ocean waves crashing...nothing simply more peaceful than that! Our first dinner that night was that Tiki Terrace, which was great! I had pasta (i am not a fish person), but my boyfriend and the 2 friends we came with all got fish and loved it! My pasta was to die for also! Their breakfast is just okay, nothing fancy, maybe a bit overpriced but hello again your in Hawaii you accept this going in right? There a very minimal breakfast places to eat in that area, so I'd say go to Cane and Taro right down the walkway or just have breakfast there, it isnt that bad, just basic buffet, they do offer a menu but we did not look that. Now on to bigger and better things!!!! The beach !!!! Its a great location, not crowded, waves are just right, absolutely beautiful! Oh and if you get thirsty....which your on vacation in the hot sun, we all need tropical drinks to cool us down, well your in luck! The Tiki Bar is the best bar we went to the on the entire island, we have basically seen all of Maui too. Drinks are tasty and potent, Dale is the best bartender in the world! He kept us coming back for more! I could have spent my entire 7 days I was there at the beach/Tiki bar if we hadnt had things planned already :) Every single staff member was great too, its just an awesome place, on our last day there they prepare a ceremony for you. Simple but stays with you forever. They tell you a story and present you with a lei at the end. Then they tell you that if you ever return to their hotel to bring your lei with you, and for every "year of service" that you come back to them they will take your lei apart and add a special white colored nut onto your lei to show your a part of their family for so many years you have came back. I heard no other hotel doing anything this meaningful in Maui when doing research. It really makes you feel like your apart of something, as simple as it is I look forward to being apart of this tradition. Me and my boyfriend and the friends we came with have already made a vow to try to return once a year, I look forward to many more years with this hotel :) Do your research!! But let me tell you, you will not be let down with this one!

We stayed here as part of our Honeymoon on 10th - 19th April and had a great time. They had a free bottle of champagne in the fridge for us on arrival which was a nice touch. It lived up to the claim of Hawaii's most Hawaiin Hotel which a really good atmosphere throughout and friendly, happy staff adding to this.

We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was really good - we had the Grilled New York Steak which was superb. The breakfast wasn't great though and we both felt it was a bit too greasy.

The location is brilliant richt on the beach front and only a 5-10 minute walk to Whalers Village one way (shops and restaurants and also where some sailing tours start from).and black rock just a couple of minutes up the beach in the other direction.

There is live music / hula on every night which is free and really good to sit and watch with a cocktail from the Tiki Bar.

This isn't a 5 star luxury hotel so don't go expecting that (the walls between rooms were thin so was some noise but nothing that disturbed us) but we would definately recommend it and would go back in an instant.

My husband and I stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel for five nights in a partial ocean view room. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and helpful! Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The stay was perfect. Location is great...Beach front....near Black Rock. On an early morning snorkel, we saw large sea turtles and a white-tipped reef shark (very exciting). The hotel grounds were very well maintained and they have a nice Hawaiian music and hula show every night.
