“Beautiful resort in Lahaina”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

We have never been in Maui before. My husband had a conference so we came. April, few days of clouds but beautiful anyway.
We can be bed and breakfast people or resort people ( nice ones, not too big or full of people)
The first night we had a room in the first floor with a parking lot view, very sad. Upgraded to the middle tower, probably all rooms have a view to the incredible mountain or the water...Floor 17. Very nice. We do get some noise from the street or from waves if we leave the door open to the lanai....
Amazing landscape, very nice pool.
The beach on this side is pretty rocky, not good for swimming but there is a great walk path from the Hyatt all the way to the Sheraton. It could take 45 min walk maybe? in 15 min you can be at the Whalers shopping , and after the Marriott the sandy beach starts....
We ate at their sushi restaurant and it was excellent , we are foodies but the wait for the sushi restaurant in Lahaina ( Sansei) was of 45 min, so we decided to stay home. Besides it is a pretty restaurant.
This hotel can be romantic, great for families with young kids or older ones, since they can go exploring without getting in a car.
Lahaina cute town is only 5 min away...rent a car, it is worth it!

Thank you for sharing feedback on your recent stay at our resort. Thank you for your comments regarding the guest rooms - we are glad you enjoyed the 17th floor and the view of the ocean and mountain. I know you walked to the Black Rock Beach at the north end of Ka'anapali Beach Resort, however, we do have a great beach towards the south end of our property called "Canoe Beach" which is less rocky. We are thrilled you also enjoyed our Japengo restaurant. Your feedback is greatly appreciated . We hope to welcome you back for another stay in the future!

The Hyatt is situated on a beautiful stretch of water at the southern end of the Ka'anapali Beach area. We stayed in a gorgeous ocean suite with two lanais - one facing the pool area and ocean, the other with a spectacular ocean view. The sound of the waves crashing lulled us to sleep at night. The facilities are lovely, especially breakfast area, pool, pool bar, and grounds. Great breakfast and some fun room service options. Our only complaint was the general crowdedness and touristy nature of the area. For this reason it was a little less than relaxing and we would probably not stay in this area again. The pool was so packed we couldn't find two pool chairs together. The pool water was too cold for my taste. Service everywhere about the resort was friendly and helpful. Spa Moana was a splurge and completely worth it.

Room Tip: Ocean front is quite a bit pricier, but the views and sound of the ocean are worth it.

Resort Redux! This was our second trip to the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa, and I'm pleased to report that it was every bit as good as the first! Our room was lovely and spacious -- although the bed was on a very low platform -- and it had a wonderful view of the beach. Breakfast at Swan Court -- at a pondside table with a view of the waterfall and swans -- was an excellent way to begin the day. The pools and spa were awesome. (I indulged in an "artistic massage" and a pedicure and was quite pleased with both.)

If there's one MAJOR drawback to the resort it's this: Their beach is quickly erroding. So if you're looking to swim in the ocean or lay on the sand, you may want to consider a different hotel. But if you're a pool type, you'll be happy enough; and the abundance of fowl -- flamingoes, swans, and even penguins! -- makes this place unique.

A 15-minute walk from the shops and bars of Whalers Village, the Hyatt Resort & Spa is a little piece of heaven in Lahaina!

I feel that the Hyatt Maui was a very well managed resort. All of the employees that we encountered were very nice. Good job, Hyatt!!

My daughters (seven and nine) and I really enjoyed the 150' lava tube slide. That was the resort's best water feature. The beach was pretty small.

There is a pathway in front of all of the resorts on this stretch of Ka'anapali Beach. Whaler's Village is 1/2 mile down the path. Black Rock is one mile down. Good snorkeling at Black Rock. You can do alot of people watching along the busy path.

I think that this resort does a good job with stuff for kids. There is an extensive kiddie pool area. The South African penguins and the exotic birds in the lobby are a treat.

Room Tip: Hotwire was my friend. I would have knocked down my rating a notch or two if I had to pay rack rate...
