Our family stayed here for a few days for a quick get away, and we loved it. The grounds are beautiful, very well maintained. The pool and spa area is large and clean. There is a nice sandy beach and beach park right across the road, and it is a great beach. It is very calm in the morning, almost like a pool. So, we were able to swim and snorkel there with our young kids. Then right around noon, the wind would pick up suddenly, and made waves for our 8 year old to boogie board. We stayed in unit 9-111. It is actually a 3 bedroom suite. We were happy that we got upgraded to a bigger place, and happy that it is on the ground floor. It is a corner unit, and had ocean view. Our condo was spacious and clean, and very well stocked. There were beach supplies, boogie boards, and sand toys for the kids. The kids had a nice area right outside of the lanai to play while my husband and I enjoyed a cup of coffee or prepared meals. This unit also had air cond. in every room, which made my husband very happy. All is all, this resort made a very relaxing and comfortable base for our family vacation. We will stay here again.

We rented through Alii Resorts, unit 10-312. The condo was absolutely beautiful and well stocked. Quality and care are not lacking. We were quite comfortable and enjoyed staying there. We met a couple who have vacationed there for fourteen years and several residents who used to vacation there and finally bought their own condo.
Only real complaint was that the last two nights, in the unit next to ours, they ran a portable air conditioner that 'whomped' all night long. Since the property mostly is only AC in living room our bedroom window did not close all the way and neither did theirs, so their noisy air conditioner kept sleep at bay. Otherwise it was a rather quiet place.
The Kamaole Sands property is lovely, friendly, and a good value in an excellent location..

Very nice place to stay. Had a washer and dryer and full kitchen which was very useful to dry wet beach clothes and to cook food instead of eating out, which is very expensive on Maui. Maids cleaned everyday, never had trouble with neighbors. Only issue was that you couldn't smoke on the lanai and had to smoke in designated areas which were always in the sun and could only fit two people. Other than that I'd recommend the Kama'ole Sands 100%.

We had a great time at Castle Kamaole Sands resort (2695 S. Kihei Rd.) across from Kamaole beach park 3. The resorts grounds are beautiful with lots of green and fountain/waterfalls and ponds. The pool area has a main pool, a kiddy pool that is shallow, and 2 spa tubs, one which is adult only and much hotter. There are many BBQ areas around the resort which was great! We stayed in building 4 room 110. We were happy with the room. We just wished we had paid a little extra and booked a room with a garden or ocean view. Our room had a nice back yard and lanai though, just no view. We were lucky and had a second air conditioner unit in the bedroom. We understand that many units only have living room a/c units. However there are lots of ceiling fans to circulate air. Family we were traveling with stayed in building 10 and had a fantastic view of the gardens with the ocean in the backdrop. It was a 2 bedroom and very spacious. We were traveling with an infant and had requested a crib which wasn't there on our arrival. This was a bit stressful as they rent the cribs from a rental place and couldn't get one till the next night. We were able to put 2 wicker chairs together as a bassinet! They said they never got the request from expedia. If you need a crib, I suggest calling the resort directly before you arrive to ensure they have a crib rented for you(he asked me if I had called to confirm).
I would recommend this resort. It is also right across the street from Kamaole sands beach 3 and a short drive from many other beaches.
If you are wanting a 5 star resort, then book a 5 star. This resort is older (as majority of Maui resorts are) but is kept up and clean with gorgeous grounds and spacious condos. We had a large kitchen and living room area, with even a 46" flatscreen TV. The separate bedroom was great so when our toddler was sleeping we didn't have to be quiet and she had her own space. It was nice having 2 bathrooms as well.
Have fun and I don't think you'll be dissappointed booking this resort. Who spends tons of time in their room anyway when your on a tropical island:)

The Kamaole Sands is managed by at least 2 companies. Resort Quest and Castle Resorts.
Castle Resorts man the front desk 24/7. Our unit was managed by Resort Quest. There seemed to be no conflict.
Our unit was CLEAN, which was our main concern. The resort grounds are immaculate, and very well run.
General maintenance of the whole complex appears to be to a high standard.
We had a few minor concerns but overall we had a very pleasant stay.

We were in building #8 and the view from the lanai was of the back of the condos at the neighboring resort, replete with the ubiquitous air conditioner units.
Separating the two resorts is a lane way leading to another resort higher up. This seemed to be the main entrance for that resort and was busy most of the time, making the lanai too noisy to enjoy.

I would stay there again but I would prefer not to be in building 8, 9 or 4. Those buildings are closest to neighboring resorts.

Building 5 seems to have the premier views but probably comes at a premium cost too.
All of the other building seemed to enjoy very good views from their lanai.
The Kamaole beach is really nice, has a gentle slope to the ocean, which makes it good for young children.
There is very little shade on the beach, so a beach umbrella would be useful.
In stark contrast to the Wailea area, a little further south, the town of Kihei is looking a bit run down, and seems to lack civic pride.

But having said all that, we would go back to Maui anytime. We had a great stay.

Let me add: My wife is an associate at a 4 diamond hotel where we live. She says reading the reviews of their hotel, the comments are so diversified that you could easily believe that they are several completely different run hotels.
