We reserved our room via HomeAway. The view from room 3106 is stunning and worth every penny. The room was clean, the shower was great, and the resort has pools, tennis courts, a hot tub, and a bar with a beautiful view. Hope to be back someday!

We rented the property through the HBR website; therefore, the room was not part of a timeshare or owned property. The room was right next to reception with no view (Hibiscus building); 2nd floor, overlooking the lobby and roof of the bar in the lobby area. We could hear everyone coming and going along with the entertainment from the bar area during the evening hours. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the room and asked to move to another room but were told there were no other rooms available.
In general, the room interiors were ok--kitchen area was very nice but we didn't use it. Bed was comfortable. Overall, we felt it could use an update.

Pros of the room:
Spacious one bedroom and living area
Two Lanais (nice if you have a room with a view; for us, use of the one on the end closest to the entry driveway wasn't even an option)
Nice kitchen with large refrigerator
Two nice size bathrooms
Very clean.

Cons of the room.
Limited pleasant view due to the unfortunate location
The doors to the rooms looked like old beach motel doors and did not seal at the bottom.
The screen doors on the lanai kept coming off the tracks and would not close completely.
The Air conditioning did not work on the living room side.
The room felt a little humid, but that could have been me at the time of year.
No washer and dryer in the room (as some other reviews said they had in their rooms)

Very nice landscaping; very lush.
Wonderful views of the mountains
Very convenient to walk to the beach by the St. Regis, and then to the path to Hideaway beach (through the St Regis property or along the road).
Reasonable parking
Nice main pool but each afternoon when we arrived there were no lounge chairs available. Some additional lounges and umbrellas for shade would be a plus.
The smaller pool in the lower area of the property was plain but nice and refreshing, and pretty empty. The con about that pool is that the pavilion is next to it, so if there is a group there having a get together it may not be very peaceful. Again, more umbrellas are needed there.
The property definitely has more of a "time-share" feel rather than a hotel resort.

I don't know if I would stay here again. It felt more like an apartment complex than a resort which is fine. For me I would like a more resort feel.

Room Tip: higher floors and those on the lower part of the property have better views.

My fiancé and I absolutely loved every moment here. It was very clean and updated. We literally checked out every decent resort on the island and our hearts knew exactly where to be. Originally we only booked 3 nights and extended it to 7. We could have stayed at the “fancier “ resorts but the vibe at Hanalei Bay Resort was just perfect! The staff, Ukulele Bar, and Happy Talk bar were all awesome. We felt so comfortable there! Special shout out to our favorite bartenders Ryan and Bill at the Ukulele bar they had great tips and were fun to talk to! Kyle, one of the bellman, checked us in and was so helpful and informative about the island. If you want a nice chill place with unparalleled views and no pretentious BS this is the place for you!

My husband and I have owned a one week every other year timeshare at Hanalei Bay Resort since 2001. (We bought it the 3rd day we had been married). Since then we have seen changes and improvements within the property grounds and staff. This year; I want comment on how kind. Courteous
And helpful the staff has been. Lillian, in Reservations was kind to assist me with
Upcoming plans. Liz in the sales department offered more than information about the program; she shared some insights about the area and what to see while we visited the island.
The housekeeping staff are always smiling and polite. They make us
Feel welcomed and at home. Ryan. The Ukulele Bar tender has been attentive to our hydration needs very well. I suggest everyone try at least one day at the resort and enjoy the ambience and beautiful grounds and pools. Mahalo!

We stayed on the 3rd floor of one of the Ginger buildings. We have stayed at this resort more several times and each stay is a revelation. From the moment you arrive, you know you are in for a special experience. You are taken to your unit in an electric cart and your bags are brought to your room for you. We suggest stopping at Foodland in Princeville to stock up on the necessities and staff will bring those in for you as well. You will notice that the property is hilly but you can always call one of the staff to come get you if negotiating the hills is too much. The rooms on the 3rd floor have high ceilings and all rooms have balconies and views. The master bedroom andl living room have A/C. The kitchen is more than well stocked and there is a washer/dryer in each unit. The landscaping is gorgeous and meticulously cared for. The main pool is stunning and has the only swim up bar in the area.
Bottom line, you will LOVE this resort. It is stunning.

Room Tip: There really isn't a bad room. We always request an upper floor.
