Was able to enjoy and relax. Huge property beautiful views. Great family, single, couple environment. Limited on resturants, so if you can rent a car do it. St. Regis is approximately 3 miles away and that's the nearest beach.
I give wait staff a 2

We stayed at this property for a week in September. As owner’s we invited another couple to join us in a 1 bedroom with an attached studio. The studio was a bit small, to do any cooking but our kitchen, living area and bathroom were very spacious. We also had another couple who booked separately from us and they too felt their studio a bit small and confining. The interior is nice and has all modern needs that a condo should have. We had a large bathroom with separate jacuzzi and shower. There are several pools located across the propery. But beware some are not heated if you’re there in the cooler months of the year. They do have a separate kiddie pool so it was nice enjoying the main heated pool which overlooks the black cliffs in the distance. Very relaxing spot! The poolside dining and drink service needs some work, very difficult to get a drink or place a food order. The concierge was a bit of a problem as she gave us different answers each time we tried to book excursions with her. The property is nice and you have access to the St. Regis beach next door with a shuttle between the two. I would definitely choose the Westin over the St. Regis as the St. Regis is highly overpriced and needs a complete makeover. At the time we were there some of the main roads were still closed past the hotel due to previous storms. We enjoyed our stay there but do beware of them booking tours for you as they often are cheaper elsewhere.

Room tip: We prefer a ground level as you have a large paio.

We went back and forth between the St. Regis and The Westin, and because we used points The Westin was the winner. We checked out the St. Regis and the views are incredible and cannot be beat, but one thing I noticed was some snotty woman giving me the up and down, this is not for me. I have to say that I am very thankful for our points used at The Westin. We were upgraded to a one bedroom and we had an amazing view of the ocean, the golf course, and the mountains. Our rooms are not at all musty as other reviewers have experienced. We have not had any problems with loud ac units or elevators. Of course, you have to be in the proper location to not experience some of these annoyances. I found that the front desk (Gina) works with you to make sure you are satisfied with your room choice. I'm very picky and honestly did switch rooms a few times.....The 3rd floor is the best.

It is true that there are a zillion annoying birds here, but it is the same at the St. Regis. Just wear your flip flops and watch where you step. The grounds crew does a great job of keeping the walkways clean. I would stay away from the grass as much as possible. I did see a few birds in the pool at times, but again, what can you do?

The breakfast is subpar, as another reviewer pointed out. It's very expensive, but if you forgo the daily room service, you are comped a breakfast. OK, so I admit, I did eat off of my husband's plate. $26 for cold pancakes and eggs? No thank you. But, again, it is fine and doable. The rest of our meals we ate away from the Westin and loved it! We also went to FoodLand and bought groceries, having a kitchen is a nice perk.

We were up each morning between 4-5 a.m. due to the time change, but this just meant we had more time to explore the amazing outdoors.

Kauai is a magical land, and how can anyone complain about being fortunate enough to be able to visit here?

Room tip: 3rd Floor Rooms are the best, keep switching until you are satisfied.

This property is quite beautiful. The one bedroom unit we are in is very well appointed and clean. We are located in building four which has a nice view overlooking the golf course and the ocean. Very serene sitting on the balcony. Our room is very quiet which is exactly what we asked for. Highly recommend this resort if peace and quiet is your thing.

First I’ll start with the positive: The grounds are beautiful and lush and there are many different pool areas.

Now, on the downside:
- There are geese and chicken walking all around the place. At first I thought it was fun and cute but then realized that there was geese poop on the lawns and paths, that you can’t eat anything without having a rooster staring at you from less than a foot away and frankly, seeing a couple geese swim in one of the pools early in the morning completely cured me from ever wanting to even step foot in there.

- the rooms are dated. The AC unit was unbelievably loud. Also, we could hear the ice maker loudly dumping ice throughout the night. They rooms smelled musty too.

- Breakfast is really subpar. Also in the bird category, the breakfast area is a hunting ground for birds. If you step away from your plate within 3 seconds you’ll have 4 birds on your plate. It’s just too much.

- the hotel gives you a welcome package when you arrive and I actually found it a bit offending that it includes a gift certificate for ONE non-alcoholic drink. Really Westin, given how much you charge for the rooms, you can’t offer two welcome drinks (with or without alcohol) to a couple?? Clearly this is made to get people to go to the bar and actually pay for the other drink. Frankly, it’s better to abstain altogether when you’re so cheap.

- and finally, the location is not very convenient. There’s not much to do on the North Side of the Island. And since they had major landslides a few months ago, you can’t drive West much beyond the St Regis, their sister property.
