“Grand Hyatt Kauai is perfect for Honeymooners!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2012

We recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt and we LOVED it. We spent a few days on Maui and then flew to Kauai. What a different island!

The Grand Hyatt is beautiful upon arrival - the lobby is grand and looking out toward the sea is magical. All of the grounds of the hotel are amazing - all of the pools from the adult pool to the salt water lagoon are pretty fantastic.

As a honeymooner, they definitely gave us a lot of perks. When making your reservation make sure you let them know you're on your honeymoon. We got champagne on arrival, a cabana for a day and other discounts. The entire staff was so nice - many of them remembered who we were which was nice.

Some of our tips:

We opted for a garden view room and they gave us room 1021 which actually was of the garden but faced the ocean so it was kind of a an ocean view. It's a bit of a walk back to the lobby/parking lot but very worth it. We loved our lanai and the ability to walk to the beach easily and pools easily from our room.

Ilima Terrace has very nice breakfast (hashbrowns were a favorite!) but some days we opted for the espresso bar on Seaview Terrace which has an amazing view and if you're not eating a lot, sometimes a breakfast and juice are all you need...and it's cheaper.

The concierges are great and have a lot of great ideas for you. We loved the Na Pali sunset cruise - the kayaking of wailua river was a little less than desired (lots of muddy hiking) but overall they don't steer you wrong.

We didn't eat at any of the restaurants but we recommend: Keoki's Paradise (opt to sit not in the dining room so you can look at both menus (the non-dining room is cheaper). We loved the sliders. Living Foods & Market in Kukui'ula Village has great breakfast which you can eat sitting on the porch. We also loved Lapperts Ice Crream in Kukui'ula Village. For lunch we loved the Snack Shack in Koloa and the Fish Market in Koloa - there's no eating inside these places so we took our food to the beach - nice picnic!

Room Tip: Ask for 1021 or rooms near that area if you have a garden view.

I stayed here with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time! The resort is beautiful. The pools and saltwater lagoon are the real asset to the resort. The restaurants are beautiful as well (Donderos is amazing!). The staff were so friendly and nice. If you are going to Kauai stay here! You won't regret it!

This is not for the budget minded. The ambience of the resort reflects old Hawaii in the open lobby, macaws on stands, lush tropical landscaping, the meandering pool, the salt water pool in a natural setting, and steps to a sandy beach and the vagaries of an open ocean. Room decor is just a little bit above deluxe but the generous bathroom and robes and individual patios add to the value. Menu prices are very high as in all resorts. Big negative is the resort fee of $25/day added to the room tariff; why not just raise room prices to be all inclusive, then one can decide if the resort is within one's price range. Best bargain: the kid's menu at the Tidelands restaurant: $10 for salad, entree and dessert. Tidelands restaurant is reminiscent of Tahiti with various pods apparently suspended above koi ponds. Splurge and have a great time. Complimentary tropical drink whilst awaiting your room and kukui nut and shell leis which are nice semipermanent souvenirs.

Room Tip: If you don't mind the hike, the end rooms of the resort are a good bargain with unobstructed oce...

This resort is the get away that is warm, 4*, w/super friendly service. Get the "club room" experience if you can afford it. Perfect for breakfast, and snacks and Happy hour.
The grounds are breath taking. My husband loved the pool slide. Lol
The Spa is ok.....nothing fancy, but sufficient for a massage. The Library is terrific for sushi as advertised. Hawaiian show, just ok. The lower lobby is Hawaiian at it best. Sunset there is magical.
My husband played golf. Loved the course. Flat and beautiful.
The beach was pretty rough. Think it depends on what time of year you go. A lot of swells and surf, not good if you want to snorkel.
We stayed for 3 nighs and will return for longer and just chill. Hope this review helps.

Room Tip: Anything ocean front. We were in 5046. Extra Large king room.

This is a beautiful ocean front hotel with an expansive lazy river, multiple pools, and great restaurants. The only disadvantage of this hotel is its inherent size of the property, but with it comes the many amenities. Staff are very courteous, often addressing you by name, and the concierge is very helpful. The grounds are impeccably clean. There's an area to the side of the resort where you can hike and see the sunrise which was amazing. I would highly recommend staying at this resort, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ocean View Rooms are obviously amazing with great balconies, but honestly not completely necessary
