This resort is phenomenal. The grounds are second to none even compared to Maui. Feels a bit like the Four Seasons Maui, without quite the rooms Of the Four seasons but this has been renovated and has much better grounds and bigger waves than Maui. Rooms are still very nice and have great views. We stayed in Deluxe Ocean View. Was a bit of a walk to the pools and partial ocean view probably would have been equally nice as you look onto the pools which are incomparable. Lazy rivers and pools (including salt water artificial beaches) connect pools cut into lava rock. Jacuzzis are nested into the rocks too. Drinks are great and breakfast buffett is very good. Restaurants all have unique locations and food. Hopefully will be back soon. Great resort to chill out at.

Stayed at this hotel attending a conference. The resort is immaculate, it's huge though so you do need to walk a bit from one side to the other. If you like poos scene ask for a room close to the pools, if you like quiet ask for a room on the opposite wing. The pools are the best feauture of this hotel, be the adults only pool, the slide, or the salt water lagoon pool (which was always sparkling clean). There are few restaurants on property, only had dinner out of property once to eat a Puka Dog in the mall nearby. If you never tried them before I highly reccomend them. The other excellent option that they have available is Green Car Hawaii, in which you rent a car by the hour, very reasonable rates and the easiest thing, you just go to the machine in lobby say when you want it, slide your credit card, then take the ticket to the bellman at the time you wanted and he brings you the car, then when you return just give him the keys. That's it, no line, no "sign here and here, initial here, etc". Did that twice, the drive to the north shore may take well over an hour, traffic is very bad in Kauai as I discovered. The beach is not the best one though (for Hawaii), very rough seas, always surfers riding the waves, very rocky. This is not a beach where you can go in just to cool off. First time in Kauai so not sure other beaches better, did go see Haulani bay on north shore, but water was very mucky. Overall if I had to go back to Kauai I would definitely stay here again.

Aloha PieroG-

Mahalo for your review of your stay here with us at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa.

We're happy to have had you join us on your very first trip to Kauai and here at our resort. Thank you for all the kind words you shared about the grounds, pools, and your dining experiences here on property. We're delighted to hear that you were able to get out an enjoy the island - there's many great beaches on island, so you'll have to come back and discover them on your next trip. Touring the island does often come with some traffic, but the upside is that it presents many great photo opportunities.

We look forward to having you join us again, and the opportunity to help you discover Kauai a little bit more.

I have stayed at this resort 4 times in the past 4 years and still think it is the most beautiful resort in Hawaii. The grounds are stunning and pools are the best. The only complaint is how much the food and drinks cost. Recommend you pick up some canned sodas at Coscos before you get to the resort. There is a small fridge in the room for sandwich supplies and milk.

The buffet is pricey but it is the best buffet I've had on 4 islands with a lot of selections, food is hot, great selection of fruits, and an omelet station.

The lagoon pool is a walk in pool with a sandy bottom but there is concrete under the sand and once you get past the shallow section, there is no sand underfoot.

Kayaks are available for renting in the lagoon pool which is a fun activity for your family.

If you want an ocean view room, request a room on the top floor because the palm trees are so large, you may find yourself peeking at the ocean through the palm trees.

This is a beautiful hotel with fabulous pools, salt and freshwater. It has lots of walkways around the grounds to enjoy. The breakfast buffet is good but a bit pricey if not included with your stay. Looking toward the ocean, there is a hiking trail at the left end of Shipwreck Beach. It takes you along the cliff and offers up great views. I give the hotel 4 stars only because, I feel, the dining options are limited. However, there are several good restaurants close by. There are at least 3 in the little shopping and dining complex down the road. There are also some restaurants that are little out of the way that are worth exploring. Don't miss Puka Dog for a quick, inexpensive lunch at the shopping complex. It is not your typical hot dog stand. Try it, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: I prefer a quieter room so I request the wing past the spa on an upper level. You get nice ocean vi...

My 7 yr old had a blast. He loved the lagoon, even more than the slide and the pool. The whole staff was very friendly. Definitely get the bkfast included. Tidepools rest, Yum Cha and Stevenson Library was great--although the latter was expensive even by Hawaii standards.

Definitely get a room close to pools otherwise you can be walking quite a bit. Weather here was warm and dry even though other places on the island were getting rain.

This is the place for elementary school age kids. So much for them to do and my son loved the Camp Hyatt (and wanted to go to it again).

We are planning on coming back next year. This place has everything.
