“Very nice stay for our family. Excellent value for the price.”
Reviewed 12 May 2018 for a stay in January 2018

Family of four, with two children. Plenty of space for all of us to spread out. Clean and well-kept. Kitchen just fine for making meals but a bit cramped and the furnishings and appliances are in need of an update. Bathrooms are spacious and pleasant. Trees and flowers all around the condo. Perfect walking distance to Poipu or Shipwreck Beach. Great to be on ground floor and have a big lawn for the kids to run on. Location is near a road so there is road noise at times during the day, but very reasonable for the price. Right next to pool which is never busy, almost like your own private pool. Staff are kind, helpful, welcoming. Price is quite reasonable for a 2-bed in a prime location.

“A good two bedroom, two bathroom condo to stay in”

We (two adults and one toddler) stayed at Makanui 512 at Poipu Kai Resort for about one month. We were pretty pleased with the condo. Poipu Kai Resort consists of small “neighborhoods” of condos, including Makanui, Regency, Manualoha, the Villas, etc. Makanui contains two-story, coral-colored buildings, with each one having four condos.

Here are some things we liked about the condo:
- It’s very spacious. It’s listed at 1700 square feet, which is a pretty good size. The bathrooms are pretty big, with both of them having long countertops (good for changing diapers).
- It’s about a half mile walk to the Poipu Beach Park and Playground. There is a main sidewalk that runs through Poipu Kai Resort, so it pretty much takes you straight to that beach. Or, if you go the other direction, it will take you to the beach at the Hyatt.
- It does have a washer and dryer, which was really nice to have.

Just some facts that I noticed about the condo:
- One bathroom has a shower, while the other has a shower with a huge tub.
- There is wireless internet.
- The backyard is a good size (see pictures).
- There is no air conditioning, so you need to keep the windows and back door open as much as possible. The wind comes through the doors in the living room and bedroom (from the east), and goes out the windows in the bathroom and other bedroom. The floor plan is actually pretty well laid out to take advantage of that.
- The condo is a longer walk from the parking lot and grill, but the pool is right outside the door.

The reasons for giving it four stars instead of five:
- It is located at the corner of two fairly busy streets that run through this resort (and on to the beach). You’ll hear a lot of large, trash trucks early in the morning and old, loud cars late at night. Since you have to keep the windows open constantly for the breeze, the noise can wake you up a lot. We put up a box fan next to the window, so that helped drown out the noise and helped the wind blow through.
- The kitchen is pretty small. I actually think most condos here have small kitchens, and if you’re only staying a few days, it’s not a big deal. Since we stayed a while and tried to cook more instead of eating out, it was hard to do anything with more than one person in the kitchen.

We booked through Suites Paradise. They were very easy to deal with, and the ladies that worked at the front desk were very helpful when I had questions or problems.

I would recommend Makanui 512 to anyone looking for a two bedroom place to stay. I might look for a condo that’s not next to the street first, but if I couldn’t find one, I would be ok with staying here.
