We stayed four nights, the amenities were good everything you could want. Breakfast was good but the best is having your own omelette cooked fresh. The room was comfortable with all you need. Although the resort backed onto a beach it was not the best. and no one was swimming there. Good they had the swimming pools in the complex. Coming from Australia and comparing our beaches why bother going to Hawaii, so that was disappointing. The scenery was fantastic on the island, so a big plus there. The service we had at the resort was very good all staff were very friendly and helpful. I feel the cost was a bit much mainly the extra amenities slug of $35.00 a day just to use the pool towels etc. If you don't use these things then its an added cost for nothing. So if you are not up to these extras maybe a resort is not the go. All in all we had a good stay.

We had a lovely time at Aqua Kauai Beach resort. It has several pool options and water slides. Adorable wild chickens are running around like pigeons would in any other place. The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. Their Driftwood Bar has one of the best bartenders - Amanda - who is quick on her feet, knows her drinks and has a very natural humorous personality. Her service alone gives this review and extra star. However, the bartenders at Shutters Lounge are extremely slow (once after waiting for our second round of wine for 20 mins, we actually cancelled our order, went to the resort's gift shop, bought our wine there and brought it back to the table... nobody seemed to care). After our departure, we also got charged for a missing towel that was actually removed from our room by Housekeeping earlier in our stay (and we did inform them right away). That said - once we emailed the resort about that, a person named Jodi Omo handled it beautifully, reversed the charge promptly and apologized. Such misunderstandings can happen anywhere, but it is how the management resolves them that shows the true quality of the hotel - thank you so much! Overall we had a positive experience and would definitely return to this beautiful corner of Kauai.

Room Tip: Go get your drinks from Amanda. If she is unavailable - get a bottle. Otherwise you will end up waiting forever between your rounds.

Aloha,

Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us while on Kaua'i, and for also taking the time to share with us your candid feedback regarding your stay. Please accept our apologies for the lack of attentive service by our Shutters Lounge bartenders. Please know, we will direct this review to the manager to address your concern, so future patrons and hopefully yourself, will not experience slower service in the future. Despite the setback of your stay, I'm happy to hear that the Associates and Kauai Beach Resort team members, really won you over, and made your stay. Amanda is such a great asset to the team, and is very proud of her job and the people she gets to meet everyday at driftwood bar and grill. Jodi Omo, is a long time leader at this Resort and has a wealth of knowledge of this Resort and its people.

We hope that you visit us again soon and choose to stay Kauai Beach Resort on your next Kauai Island escape. Until we have that opportunity... Mahalo!

This hotel is nice, but definitely nothing special, and in a windy location. We stayed in room 2305, which definitely needs redecorating. Wallpaper is peeling in many areas. This is a self contained hotel, and there is nothing around for miles, so you really need to hire a car. The only shop is a small gift shop on the premises. The pool area is lovely with plenty of fun things to do. Lovely relaxing place, but not a good place to be if the weather is bad! Saturday at 3.20pm, we went to the towel hut by the pool, to be told we would have to wait 45 mins for a towel !!!! We walked to reception where we were given them straight away - but we shouldnt have had to of done this ! 3.20 on a Saturday afternoon and no towels available at the poolside is unacceptable. Very poor evening entertainment. The reception, lobby area is lovely - its a shame the rooms arent the same. There are chickens everywhere, though they are rather lovely. You cannot swim in the very rough, windy sea here.

Room Tip: If they offer you room 2305, dont accept it, until its redecorated.

I booked this place a bit at the last minute as I decided to go diving and hiking in Kauai. The place showed up on a few hotel sites with a 3 star-rating but with good travelers’ reviews and reasonable pricing vs. other hotels around it. The place is totally worth it, and I honestly do not understand the 3 * rating on some sites. Here is why:

-Front desk staff was professional and welcoming
-The hotel is greatly-located on a secluded beach
-The room was spacious, very clean and well decorated with an ocean view
-The breakfast buffet was excellent
-The Hotel has 4 pools, several restaurants with great food (cauliflower Mac and cheese is a must), good wines, and a relax feel.
-It is well priced.
I am giving it a 5 * not because it is a 5 * hotel (I would usually give it a 4* rating) but because it was much better than expected and this needs to be taken into account.

By the way, the concierge is very helpful and will guide you into any visits, hikes or boat trips you might want to experience.

Stayed here for 5 nights during a recent trip to Hawaii. Rooms lovely and well appointed - we had deluxe pool view rooms but we could see the sea as well beyond the pools/gardens. Staff friendly. Grounds and pools beautiful. The beach is beautiful to watch sunrise.
The restaurant and bar are excellent, particularly if you can get an outdoor table.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel or to stay here again.

I've read other reviews complaining about plastic on the beach - this is not the fault of the hotel, it is being washed up on the beach. But since this is a global problem there's nothing stopping people picking some up and disposing of it properly when they visit - we did - every little helps! The hotel could even help this by supplying recyclable bags at the beach and a sign to say why - might help people understand the problem and encourage them to help! It's not going away on its own! Not sure if any beach cleanup initiatives are in the area / supported - if not perhaps they could start.....

Room Tip: The deluxe pool view rooms are beautiful.

Aloha,

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your experience at Kauai Beach Resort. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and it exceeded your expectations. We strive to provide unparalleled service to all of our Guests that walk through our doors and ensure that valued Guests, such as yourself, feel the ALOHA of the people here.

Thank you very much for your suggestion and care of the litter on the beach. Yes, ever little bit helps. It is an ongoing effort to try and keep the beach clean. We have local non-profit organizations and hotel employees who participate and clean the beach consistently. However, this still doesn't deter the plastics and debris from showing up on the beach. I really like your idea, of getting everyone involved and aware of the this problem on the beach. To better care for the land and the beaches.

Thank you for your comments and we hope to see you back soon on Kauai and the Kauai Beach Resort.
