“Very nice, but be prepared to walk!!”
Reviewed 12 June 2012

The hotel is very nice. Rooms are comfy. Pool is great. Service at pool cabana, towels, etc., is great. Beach is nice and there are very close rentals (2 minute walk) for boards, and other beach equipment...right next to Duke's restaurant which is attached to hotel. Food is okay, better than average at hotel restaurant, i.e., KuKui's. During prime check-in and out hours, they could put more people on the front desk. I've never had as long a wait as I had at this hotel. Even Vegas runs 10x the amount of people through check-in faster. Not sure the problem. Be sure to ask for a "linger longer" deal if your flight leaves after say 3:00 p.m. This deal lets you stay in room until 6 p.m. for $75.00 which was great because our flight left at 8:30 p.m. and it is only a 5 minute drive to airport.

Basically, the only real complaint I have is that the architect who designed the parking for guests was probably one of those architects who is "in the news" and wins a myriad of awards, but when it comes to practical issues is clueless on reality and people. The parking has no quick stairs or access to center of couryard complex or particular buildings. You have to walk from 1-200 yards (depending upon where you park) to front entrance, ride a 3 story escalator down to courtyard, then walk another 100 yards to your building, main lobby, or what have you, then up to your floor. Not a big deal at check-in with bellmen, but if you run to a store for something or forget your sunglasses in the car, plan on a quarter mile hike to get back to your room. Be sure to take kids to front lobby area at 9:00 a.m. when they feed the pleathora of Koi fish in the pond...it is a feeding frenzy that will make any kid and most adults smile.

The Kauai Marriot is a gem in Hawaii. The hotel is on one of the most lovely beaches in the islands so you can swim in the Ocean just a few paces from your room. The hotel pool is a gigantic paradise with an island in the middle, lots of fountains shooting water into the air from the mouths of dragons and sea turtles. The rooms are spacious and clean. Service is excellent.

Nice hotel, but their internet service was so weak and unfriendly. Using my iPad & iPhone and I had to re-sign back on 7/8 times a day.

This is a beautiful resort! Friendly service and comfortable atmosphere. Close to local shopping and dining. The pool, food, and beach were so good here!

Brought the family for a week of Relaxation an booked a ocean view room to go along with a ocean front room timeshare. The purchased room (~$400 / night) was billed as a 2 room, 2 bath unit. The room had only one bath and the ocean view did exist if you went onto the balcony and leaned out over the rail lookin to the right as far as you could. Otherwise the view was the green roof of the lobby and the adjacent tower across the courtyard. When I called the lobby to see if there was a mistake I was told this room is "billed" as ocean view. Not that it had an ocean view, it was billed as. I asked to be moved and was informed the entire place was sold out. This is a huge place! They told me I could be put on a waitlist for the next day which I agreed to. Before 7:30 the next am, the message light on the phone was on & a message was left (they didn't try to call) telling me nothing was available. I called and try to reason with them to no avail, it wasn't their concern I was disappointed in my view. I offered to upgrade and suddenly they were willing to consider being somewhat accommodating (what happened to sold out?). Later that day they called with a ocean front room for an additional $75/night & needed an instant answer. I was in town but wanted to know exactly where the room was (I didn't want a view of tree trunks with the ocean viewable while standing in a chair) but they couldn't wait. long story short, beautiful place but the management is only concerned with revenue, not customer satisfaction.
