We recently spent 2 nights at Kalaekilohana, and it was delightful. Our room was spacious, the bed super comfortable. Loved the openness of the bathroom and shower, even with 4 of us in the room it was still private (just requires a little extra communication!). And be prepared for a rooster wake-up. It was early, but with the jet lag, it wasn't an issue.

Kenny's breakfasts and dinners were delicious and healthy, and Kilohana's suggestions for things to see around the island were spot on. And sitting on the lanai with a glass of wine was a lovely way to end an active day.

We stayed on resorts for the rest of our trip, which were very nice, but Kalaekilohana was the highlight of our trip.

Kalaekilohana is the place where luxury truly meets comfort!

Kenny and Kilohana are amazing!

The house is so comfortable with its amenities!

Stuff like a stock refrigerator packed with Perrier, San Pellegrino, white wine, organic apple juice and bite size cheese snacks for the kids (all complimentary)

The premium breakfast was out of this world.
The rooms were very comfortable. Plus the complimentary self service laundry.

You get so much value!
Definitely, a place to stay in the Big Island.

We spent three nights at this delightful inn. I completely echo prior comments about the amazing breakfasts loaded with delicious local fruit. It was a different breakfast each day. Just a fantastic way to start the day. The dinners were wonderful too. Very relaxing front porch. We enjoyed the nearby hike to Green Sands Beach. Kenny and Kilohana are great hosts. The inn runs like a well-oiled machine. Highly recommend the inn.

I stayed for 3 nights in the 'Green Sea Suite' at this lovely and serene inn. What a treat in all regards! I felt like I was staying in a private home, with all the amenities of a first-class hotel. Because of the ambience and gracious hosts, the experience was delightfully personal. The room was so comfortable, beautifully decorated and had a meditative view. The breakfasts were unbelievably delicious! The dinners were perfect in their simplicity and freshness. I could have spent a week just perusing the rooms, enjoying the authentic presentation of Hawaiian culture in the decor, art, music, and books. Ultimately, Kilohana and Kenny, my hosts, were the reason for writing this review...They know how to make a guest feel truly welcome and offer a taste of the REAL Hawaii.

We stayed 3 days at this wonderful bed and breakfast cuddled by the owners Kenny and Kilohana
We had come to visit the volcano, unfortunately closed due to the recent eruption. (By the way the area that can not be visited is really small, the island is beautiful and there are lots of things to do)
The house is very well kept, the rooms are well furnished and very clean and you sleep very well cradled by the croaking of the coqui, a small frog typical of these places.
Kenny is a very good cook and prepares sumptuous breakfasts with local products and in the evening delicious dinners (we have always had dinner here)
Kilohana is full of suggestions on the best places to visit and every morning prepared tailor-made itineraries with precise driving directions for which the map was not necessary
I remember with pleasure the relaxing evenings spent after dinner on the lanai sipping a glass of wine or a digestive and pleasant conversations with Kenny and Kilohana.
We can only thank them for the care and hospitality offered to us and advise anyone who appreciates these now unfortunately rare virtues of staying at Kalaekilohana
