Keaau Place was everything we expected! At the tail end of our vacation we wanted quiet and peace and Keaau Place was perfect for our needs. It was nice waking up and being able to cook our own breakfast and not have to worry about where we would eat before getting our day started. The caretakers thought of everything we would need to make our stay enjoyable. We had no trouble finding the place as some others have noted and we got in very late. My boyfriend loved the mattress (I did not) but didn't care for the wood bed frame as he kept stubbing his toe - so be mindful of that. Because they have their own well service for water - the pressure in the shower wasn't the best. Those were the only two cons we noticed. Compared to all the pros - they were very minor. The studio has a bed, full bathroom fully stocked with towels, small kitchen area, no stove, but they do have a toaster oven, electric skillet and 2 burner stove top. When we arrived we noticed that one of the burners was not working and the next day we had a new one to replace it! Small dining area and the wonderful "back yard" deck. It was completely private with a wood wall/fence separating the units. On the deck we had a closet area with a roll-away bed, extra pillows and blankets and a vacuum, the washer/dryer (including detergent), beach towels, a cooler, lawn chairs, patio table and chairs and a salt water soft tub! We respected the quiet hours (9p-9a) but felt it would have been nice to have an extra hour in the evening to use the soft tub (with jets). We have already talked about going back! If you don't mind doing your own dishes and cooking for yourself while on vacation this is the place for you. It is spotless, comfortable and perfect for 2!

Room Tip: There are only 2 studios. We were in studio 1.

Keeau Place was wonderful! Clean, comfortable...so comfortable that I want to know what type of mattress they have! Very roomy for the two of us, and the lanai was a perfect place to enjoy a morining cup of coffee. The hot tub was a bonus! As others have said, it was very quiet and private; we didn't see anyone else the entire time we were there (including the hosts, which is fine with us). There is nothing I would change about the place; if we ever get back to Hilo, we will defintely stay there.

It is very unfortunate that someone left a 1 star for here because they could not find it in year 2016 where GPS is in $30 phones right now. IMO Tripadvisor should remove those kinds of reviews.

If I ever want to manage a small hotel, I don't think I can do better than the owner of this one. Here's what I see:

1-Full kitchen, tea, coffee, milk, everything is there.
2-Umbrellas are waiting near the door (and you will probably need them!)
3-Unlimited filtered drinking water (while big box hotels want to charge you $7 per bottle!)
4-Solar energy powering the whole place.
5-Parking 4 meters from the door!
6-A working A/C! Most other accommodations in this area does not have A/C.
7-All of these with a pretty low daily price!

My main reasoning for choosing this hotel was really the A/C since most others do not have it. And I am very happy I chose this one.

Please keep up the good work!

We were so lucky to find the Keaau Place on the internet while planning our trip to Big Island! The studio is spotless and located in a very quite residential area. It's very close to food and things to do, but also private and relaxed. The studio has everything you could possibly need, right down to the detergent and dryer sheets. Relaxing in the salt water hot tub was a great way to wind down after a day of adventures. The caretakers, Brad and Myra, are lovely and very accommodating people who have a knack for making you feel right at home instantly. We have already recommended this place to our friends and family, and we can't wait to come back! Mahalo!

Absolutely lovely place to stay where the owners have thought of every need you might have. The insects were noisy but that can't be helped, and the place was incredibly quiet apart from that. Brilliant stay with amazingly helpful caretakers in Brad and Myra.
