The hotel has clearly just gone through a renovation. It looks pretty good! Very modern, with black & white hula photos everywhere by Kim Taylor Reese.
The grounds are well kept, but this is not a.sprawling resort. The pool is small & outdated. There are some Sandy spots in the lava rocks right off the beach, so the swimming hole in front of the hotel is cute. The live music in the bar and at the restaurant was good, the bar was packed everything night, but the service could have been better. The breakfast food at the restaurant was delicious! The valet was always super quick and housekeeping did a good job.
If you are flying from the mainland for a beach vacation in Hawaii, this is not the hotel for you. You'll need to go to the Kona side of the island where the resorts are. More
