A buddy and I did the Spread Creek trail and had a great time. The scenery was incredible, the terrain was challenging but not too hard, and our guide (Pat) was professional and friendly.
We rented bikes at Teton Mountain Bikes from David who was extremely helpful in getting us outfitted. While we are both in good shape, my husband does a lot more cycling than I do! I rented a "comfort bike" and my husband rented a road bike. We took the bike path from the Bike shop and rode to Moose Junction. It was a BEAUTIFUL 25 Miles round trip! There was one long incline on the way out and mostly flat and small hills otherwise. David told us to expect a headwind coming back so we wouldn't go out too far and have difficulty coming back. He was ABSOLUTELY right about this as on our way back it was quite windy and made it a bit more difficult. If you enjoy exercise and the beauty of being outdoors, I would suggest this ride. We stopped at the restroom at Moose Junction and also a few times to take pictures and it took us about 3 hours round trip. Wonderful afternoon!
My husband and teenage daughter decided they wanted to bike in the Tetons, but we didn't bring our bikes. We rented from this outfit and they were amazing. The rental was efficient and they even had a bike rack to rent so they could start in the park then bike out. The bikes were in great shape and it provided a perfect, memorable experience.
It was very nice. When we got to the starting point, they gave my dad and I fatboys, (bikes with very fat wheels), just as we requested, and my mom and sister got normal off-road bikes. The bikes where in supreme condition and it looked like they where taken good care of. Rose, (our guide), gave us some souvenir water bottles with water for the trip and for us to take home afterwards and gave us a full explanation of the bikes and the terrain we where heading to. Rose also explained to us about many historic places along the 8 mile bumpy ride, while at the same time leading the way. We experienced a lot of different terrain and at the same time saw wildlife like pronghorns, foxes, hawks, and bison. We also stopped at various points to take pictures, and Rose volunteered to take pictures of us as a group. When we headed back to the starting point, there was cold pink lemonade to fill our souvenir water bottles and very good cookies. It was a very fun, interesting, and exciting experience. Its an experience that I very much recommend.
My wife and two kids (ages 10 and 8) went on the Jenny Lake bike tour. We met at the Teton Bike office near the Jackson town center and then followed the bike van (about a 15 minute drive into the park) with our car so we could spend the rest of the day in the park. The tour is about 11 miles roundtrip, and you spend most of it riding along a paved path with the Tetons in the background. We saw a Pronghorn antelope along the way. There is a short section at the end (which is optional) where you ride in a bike lane on a road with cars. At the end of this optional part, you arrive at a viewing area that overlooks Jenny Lake. The scenery is amazing.
The ride is basically flat, and the kids had no problem with it. They provide everything you need - helmets, water bottles, bike gloves - and the bikes were in good condition. We only wished the tour could have been longer!
Patrick (our guide) was great, and so was the equipment. The souvenir water bottles were a nice touch! We had a fun family ride around Antelope Flats with great scenery and got to see some wild life, too. Patrick was happy to take some pictures and we stopped several times to check out the views - and to get everyone back together. They accurately represented the difficulty level - There are a couple challenging climbs involved for us 50-somethings but the route is fairly flat given the location. I don't even know if they make tandems suitable for this kind of tour, but in hindsight I am wondering if that might have made my wife's experience even better.
