We were told this is a must because of the setting and history (the hotel was built by Buffalo Bill) but that we shouldn't expect much from the food. We went with low expectations which was good as they clearly were not met. I thought the chicken pot pie sounded tasty but it was more like a very thin chicken soup with frozen vegetables covered with puff pastry.

Irma's is more of a theme than a restaurant and if you have people queuing round the block to get in you don't have to worry about the food. The setting is fantastic, if you have seen John Ford Western's then this place certainly looks like a Hollywood version of a western saloon. There are even actors in costume, I think they were human but maybe they were robots.
The food is at best disappointing. Maybe that authentic too. It's partly self service, partly indifferent at table service. But it's so busy they are just managing the numbers.
I suggest pop in to the saloon for a drink, see the interior, take a photo and eat elsewhere.

I never, ever give a bad review but in this case I can't help it. The food was substandard for a place of this class. Maybe it was the end of the season and just didn't care. We choose the buffet for $25.99 each. They offered 2 sides, a dish with a combo beans, corn & peas with very little flavor and mashed potatoes along with a salad. The entrees we're fish/cold & dry, bbq ribs buried I'm not sauce & still dry, and pre rib that was overcooked, cold & dry. The baked ham was very good. Deserts were chocolate or vanilla pudding only!! This place was noted for it's great, sorry we came on a night when it wasn't. Atmosphere & original antique cherry wood bar was very good.

The breakfast buffet is a sight to behold. The staff is awesome. If you want to hang with locals, eat in the bar. The Irma is one of those: if these walls could talk, wonders of the country....do it...

The Breakfast buffet was amazing. All sorts of varieties, including Buffalo sausage. But the Best item was Irma's Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce. Makes my mouth water just remembering how good it was. Worth you trip.
