We had booked a B&B in Cody only to find out the day we arrived it was run by very unfriendly people. We looked around for anything else available on a couple of hours notice so we picked the Big Bear....what great luck. The staff here was extremely friendly, the room was great and oh yeah they had live music which was awesome. What a great local experience. Definitely one of the high points in our visit. Laid back cool destination.

We love staying at mom&pop vintage motels and highly recommend the Big Bear for others who feel the same. A two-story motel with a log-cabin feel, the Big Bear is a family affair from start to finish. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. There was lots of parking and easy access to the highway and a good diner across the street where we got breakfast. But what I'll remember most are the fellows who sang great old classic songs every night in front of the office, the lady who drives her miniature horse around the parking lot in a golf cart mostly for his entertainment, and the big wild bunny that lives under the big old tree in front. If you want everything standardized, try one of Cody's chain motels. If you would like a bit of real Wyoming hospitality, I hope you love the Big Bear as much as we did.

This motel is fabulous! I highly recommend it. The family that runs it as extremely lovely. Our room was wonderful. We booked one of the cabins. The main room and the bathroom are nicely decorated. The main room has a TV, refrigerator, microwave and two queen beds. Plenty of space for luggage. The beds were very comfortable. The room is all wood and has a lovely cedar like smell. We arrrived later in the evening. When the person checking us in learned we had two kids they made sure to tell us about the free pony and horse rides. They go every evening from 6-9. They were very patient with my 3 year old who was afraid to ride. Rides are supposed to end at 9, but because we would not be around the following night they stayed a bit later so my girls could enjoy themselves. They have lovely wooden animals all around the property for the kids to play on, a pool and a playground. They also have live music between 6-9. It was great music! Everyone is friendly and engaging. We wished we had more time there because it was so enjoyable. We really were not expecting much and were pleasantly surprised with how wonderful it is here. A+ all around!

Weekday stay to drive to Yellowstone which is an hour drive to the west entrance. Rooms are simple with a small fridge and microwave.

A one man band with a keyboard and a dog were outside of the check in area each night, he finished playing around 9.

Rooms are close to one another that you can hear neighbors easily. Metal keys are used instead of the more modern key cards.

Thank you for staying with us at our family's motel! We appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback. Big Bear is no cookie cutter hotel or motel alright, we work hard to be unique and to offer a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable stay for our guests. We hope that you had a good time in the area! You are always welcome back.

Wasn't expecting much from a motel but loved the place. The family who run it were very friendly and helpful.
The entertainer puts on a free show every night and is fantastic.
Room was good sized and clean ,beds were comfortable.
Plenty parking, wi-fi was fast enough and reliable.
Nice with an outside sitting place for every room too, laundry and bbq facilities available.
Very handy for Yellowstone and lots of shops, eateries and attractions nearby, many within walking distance.
Good with a microwave and small fridge, no tea/ coffee in the room tho, you have to go to reception for a free morning brew
The only negative, sound insulation appears to be non existent. Could hear every
word the neighbors said, and when the garbage truck arrives early in the morning, the road noise outside ramps up, then all the guests' motorbikes fire up for their days out it wasn't great for a light sleeper.
Maybe a touch expensive compared to what you get in hotels further away from Yellowstone, but seems to be on a par with everything else in the area, I guess good location in high season in a tourist area will always come at a premium.
However, the good far outweighs the bad and will definitely stay at the Big Bear if we are back in the area
