A little history......We stayed at this property 34 years ago and it was brand new...just opened that summer (1984). I repeated the booking this year because although there are some beautiful properties in Cody, Super 8 was the one of the few that is pet friendly.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found not a 34-year-old room, but a bright, newly remodeled one! Furnishings and bathroom were brand new. The room was small, but we were just staying overnight on our way to Yellowstone, not moving in. The bathroom had new ceramic tile floors and a wonderfully lit mirror. Most places, no matter what you pay, forget that a woman needs a well-lit mirror for make-up application. This one was perfect. I told the morning clerk our 34-years-ago history when I checked out, and she told me the renovations were started earlier in this year. They still had to replace carpet, and the easy chairs in the rooms. That's good, because the one in our room was definitely 34 years old! There is a safe, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker, but there are hot drinks available in the lobby.
The lobby and breakfast area are very pretty with rustic Western design (just like Cody). Super 8 has always been a little light on the breakfast offerings, but this wasn't entirely bad, with yogurt, toast, cereal, muffins, juice, and hot drinks. The hot drinks are available 24/7, which is good, because it was in the 30s that evening and night.
They have baggage carts for guests, which is nice for those of us that carry a lot of detritus with us.
A pet area is a grassy area behind the property with a gravel path and pet stations with bags and cans for waste.
The 5 handicapped parking spaces showed a patriotic flair, as 3 of them were "Reserved for Combat Veterans/Purple Heart" and so forth.
All in all, a pleasant stay! And our dog liked it, too.

We stayed in room 120, a single queen room, the night of August 20, 2018. We arrived late and tired. The reservation was correct and the night desk clerk was friendly and helpful. He gave us a useful map and a number of tips about driving and sightseeing in Yellowstone, our destination the next day. The room was very small, but we didn't give it a lot of thought. It was much smaller than the picture for a single queen room. There was no upholstered chair and no room for one. With all our luggage, there was barely room to move around. The next morning when rooms were open for cleaning, I saw one like the photo and it was much larger than our room, but we paid the same price.

Also, in the photos you can see a metal grab handle between the two sections of the tub surround. In our bathroom, the caulking around it was gone and it was loose. It could easily have been pushed into the wall and lost, plus shower water hitting the side of the enclosure could go through the openings into the wall. These things can happen, and I always report them so they can be fixed. The morning desk clerk was snotty and her only response was, "It's not a grab handle." I don't think she made a note of it. When I commented on the fact that our room was much smaller than the photo yet for the same price, her response was something like, "That's all up to Wyndham," and that was it, for both items. She seemed annoyed that I bothered her. I was pleasant and stayed that way, but wanted to respond otherwise.

On the positive side, the motel seemed to have been recently renovated and everything looked new and clean. Our little room and the bathroom were both very clean and bright. The bed was good and Wi-Fi was excellent. Breakfast was standard Super 8 fare, not fancy, but completely adequate.

I would stay here again, but only after making sure I had a large room, and the morning desk clerk needs a courtesy refresher. With a larger room as pictured and better response from the clerk, I would have given the motel at least a 4 instead of a 3, maybe even a 5, but for $152.99 the room was way too small.

Room tip: Make sure you get a larger room as pictured in management's photos

Thank you for your review. Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your stay with us. I specifically want to thank you for the most valuable reminder to all of us here at the Cody Super 8 that mediocrity is not acceptable. Regardless of how tired we may be, busy, overwhelmed, maybe even grouchy (!) that is no excuse to be anything less that 100% present for our guests. You deserve our best and the service you received from the front desk was unacceptable. A perfect training opportunity thus presented itself and has been communicated to the entire front desk crew. So again, thank you. Hopefully we will have the pleasure of your company again the next time your travels bring you to Cody..

Super 8 never disappoints. Internet about the best I've seen in all my cross country travels. Worse internet service is in high-priced motels/hotels in downtown cities like Chicago. Breakfast was fine.

We had hotel reservations a couple of hours down the road but we stayed longer than anticipated in Yellowstone and it took longer to get out. We arrived in Cody at midnight not wanting to drive for two more hours. Mark was able to get us a room as well as help out canceling our other reservations. It was a great sleep.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The lady who kept up with the breakfast items was very efficient and friendly. Our room was a nice size with an easy chair. The room was clean, bed comfy and quiet. We were afraid of the noise as the hotel was sold out each night but we turned on the fan and did not hear a sound. Small area to eat breakfast but a chance to share a table and talk to other travelers. We liked it so well after one night we extended our stay another day.
