“Amazing stay at the Wilderness-(Villa)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2012

This was our first trip to the Wilderness. We stayed in one of the 2b2b Villa's. It exceeded our expectations. We loved the spacious layout. The Villa was very clean. I especially loved the washer/dryer. It was soooo nice to have clean/dry swimsuits each day. We also enjoyed the furnished kitchen. It was so helpful. We loved parking right outside our room. It was so easy to unload the car. We drove to most of the water parks but it was not a big deal. We were close enough to walk to the Klondike Kavern water area. The staff was so accommodating. At check in they gave us maps and coupons. There were a good number of lifeguards around. All were very personable. We found the kids activity center and stuffed a moose. The kids had such a good time with that. It's not a very well advertised area so ask if you can't find it. Definitely, worth exploring if you have young kids. My kids also LOVED the ball pit area. It's free. We will definitely be back... and staying in a villa.

We stayed in a 4 bedroom frontier condo for 2 nights. It was clean, roomy, and a great time was had by all. The water parks are a blast. Our kids love the arcade/play area. The food and drinks are ok, but we do most of our cooking in our room. We will keep going back!

We stayed at the Wilderness Sunday April 22nd to Tuesday April 24th. Stayed on the third floor. The room was nice with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. I would definately recommend the third floor we were in between the Waterdome and the Kavern so the walk was'nt too bad. The room was facing the back of the hotel so you did'nt have the sun beating in on you in the evenings also had a nice little balcony that was private without random people walking by like on the first floor. The second floor gets alot of noise and people walking thru it. All three indoor parks were great! Went with my husband, boys age 12 and 9 and my mom. Everyone had a good time! Get the Wild Fun Pass!!! I could'nt believe the amount of stuff they had to do there at the hotel. Everyone liked the bumper boats, laser tag and Haunted Hotel. The Haunted Hotel would be pretty scary for small ones though. There is also a ceramic studio called Polka Dot Pots which was a nice surprise to find in a hotel. We'll definately be staying at the Wilderness again!

Stayed at Wilderness (room 427, first floor) from 4/21 to 4/23 with a 21 month old. Overall, we had a good experience. We had a quick check in- they say that your room won't be ready until after 4:00, but we got to the hotel a little before 3 and received our room right away. It's quite a hike to the restaurants and awater parks, so if you have small children, bring a stroller or wagon. We went to the Wild Water Dome first, which turned out to be our toddler's favorite area. There is a section of the pool right next to the wave pool that has shallow water, fountains, climbing toys, and slides for young kids. On Saturday evening it was extremely busy, so the crowd was a little overwhelming. Note, the pool towels are thin! On Sunday we went to Wilderness on the Lake since Cubbies Cove is specific to our toddler's age group. We ended up only staying for about 10 minutes since all the water showers and sprayers on the water slides were too much for our toddler. He was not a fan! We went to Klondike Kavern next... it has a lazy river, and a bunch of climing/ water slides. There is a huge bucket at the top which dumps 1,000 gallons of water ever few minutes... also too overwhelming for our toddler. But there was plenty of shallow areas for the small kids. We didn't stay here very long either and ended up at the Water Dome for the rest of our stay. Sunday and Monday were deffinitely less crowded so I'd recommend going during the week if possible.

The food: Survivors-good "pub" food, a little pricey. Dinner and Breakfast at Wilderness cafe- Okay food, toddler ate free. At dinner the wait was rather long even thought here were hardly any customers, though our server brought us fruit and crackers to keep our toddler busy during the wait. Another employee brought him ice cream at the end of our meal "just because." So overall the slow wait time was more than made up for.

DO NOT stay on the second floor. Our room on the first floor was nice, but you can hear a lot of noise from the hallway and the room next door. We did not sleep very well on Saturday night. Though with less people there on Sunday, it was quieter overall. The second floor rooms have a ton more activity since the second floor in the main walkway to get to all the water parks. I can only imagine the amount of noise!

Overall I think it was a good trip. Older kids would probably get more out of the water parks.

We have been traveling to Wisconsin Dells for almost 20 years and have been staying at the Wilderness for almost as long. We have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly, the place is clean. As they've expanded rooms they have also expanded the water facilities to keep up with demand. We've been there during the peak of summer and the middle of winter. Anytime we've tried anywhere else we've always been disappointed and wind up coming back to the Wilderness again and again.

Room Tip: Decide which waterpark you most want to be by and requested that section when making your reservatio...
