Our experience with the Sand Bay Beach Resort was a mixed experience. The positives: 1.) A truly nice sand beach, 2.) crystal clear water that is warm enough in May in Wisconsin to enter because the sun can warm it because it is shallow, 3.) the view from the property of the waters of Green Bay is very, very nice 4.) due to its location south-east of Sturgeon Bay, it is very quiet and removed from the crowded, hectic, noisy typical Door County experience yet it is convenient to the offerings of Sturgeon Bay and a state park, 5.) the front desk staff was nice, 6.) the accommodations were spacious and contained features that would certainly be useful 7.) the landscaping is very pleasant and well maintained. The negatives: 1.) this property is showing its age, 2.) maintenance appears to be an issue, 3.) sheets, towels and pillows are old and need to be updated, 4.) the waterproof mattress covers interfere with a cool, restful sleep and 5.) this is a rural property and the water is understandably hard and has a strong iron taste so you may wish to at least bring bottled water. It wasn’t that we had a bad experience but rather this is a property that needs to attend to some issues to provide a more completely positive experience.
