I was born in raised in Sheboygan. I am 57 years old now and have been living in Georgia for the last 18 years. I am back this weekend visiting family but decided to stay in a hotel. Well at least I thought I wanted to stay in a hotel. I checked in on Friday night and paid $63. When I walked in the little office, they quoted me $67. For the nite but I told them that Yelp had it listed for $63, and they gladly honored it. It was about 9 PM and off I went to visit family. Well I hadn’t seen my sister in a while so we ended up talking all night, and I never got back to the motel. LOL. I called about 1030 the next morning and explained my situation and did a phone check out. They said that they would see what they could do because I had not even touched the room, about giving me my money back. Well as things worked out I did go back Saturday night, and they booked me into the same room for $40. I didn’t get any of my 63 from the night before back, but I thought the end deal was fair. The room was clean, I walked barefoot on the floor, and no lingering smoke smell, because years ago in this little older hotel there had been smoking. The bed was very clean and comfortable. I had no remote problems, and the bathroom had shampoo soap, and all the paper and tissue I needed, with an extra roll of tp even. About the ashtrays on the air conditioners - if you know anything about Sheboygan at all, you know that there is no tourism in the off-season here, really. Motels need to make money to stay in business year round tho, so they do rent the rooms out to locals for extended stays. With the ashtrays out there, and I did notice they were being used, I didn’t see one cigarette butt on the ground, And when I was there it was cold so nobody was really out there milling about smoking. Same thing with the sheet of “extensive rules “ that you must read, initial and sign. They are just letting those locals know that any roudie, drunken behavior and loud noise that would bother other guests will not be tolerated. Again, I see nothing wrong with this. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and appeared willing to provide anything that I might need. I will stay here again next visit if I decide to hotel it.
