A wonderful little gîte in a nice little village, a well kept property, clean, secure and with all the facilities you need. Situated in a quiet and peaceful area it makes a great little retreat.
Bruno is a wonderful host and the locals of the village are extremely welcoming.
If you want to watch or take part in some Pétanque, head down to the park in the centre of the village on a Saturday afternoon.
There are some beautiful places to walk and the neighbouring towns and villages are also worth exploring.
My partner and I stayed for a week in Gite Meunier and we had a wonderful time.
The gite is small but ideal - its new so everything is in perfect condition. A great kitchen with all cooking utensils etc and a table and chairs, nice bathroom and shower downstairs and an open plan bedroom/living room upstairs (double bed, bunks, sofas, large flat screen tv etc).
The gite is nextdoor to the owners so you get to share their beautiful garden with its lovely views. There are chickens where you can get eggs, and a swing/slide set if you have children with you! Sun loungers and patio set outside are lovely to relax in the sun - we drank wine, ate lots of french bread and cheese and relaxed.
You can walk to Gesnes which is very pretty and has a boulangerie and bar (although they were being refurbished when we were there so cannot judge what they are like! They are finished now though). While there is not alot else in walking distance, you are a short car journey away from some really beautiful villages (St Ceneri le Gerei was a highlight for us! Also go to St Leonard du Bois and Fresnay Sur Sarth) and is also close to Alencon which is bigger, has lots of Supermarkets and is really lovely. We also visited Le Mans, Saumur and Angers during our stay which are a little further away but are very nice day trips. There are lots of leaflets and brochures in the Gite to give you ideas.
The owners are so friendly and helpful, it was a pleasure to stay next to them for a week - they left us some wine and fresh honey which was a lovely touch, and we were invited for some drinks with them which we really enjoyed, despite our terrible French! Their neighbour is English and was on hand the whole time to help us with anything and give tips about the area which was great. We also had our deposit transferred back via paypal on the day we left - ideal.
Thank you to Bruno and his family, and Jacqui for a really lovely stay in Gesnes-le-Gandelin! Say hi to Oliver the cat for us :)
