We spent memorial weekend at the cabin, and loved it. Very charming and romantic. Was everything we read about, Very nice, cozy, romantic, charming. Just loved it. The stairs took sometime getting use too but we managed and had a great time. Loved mineral point the people their were all so nice, can't wait to visit again some day. Cothren Cabin is a great place to reconnect with that someone special, or just by your self to get away from it all, forget the phones, internet and t.v. just enjoy. Thank-You

I totally agree with Kate A.'s review. This is a nice spot for a girl's get-away. Comfortable sitting room for chatting and catching up. There were no coffee cups or glasses in the cottage, we had brought our own so that wasn't a problem; if we had asked, the owners would most likely have supplied what we needed.

The Cothren Cottage is the perfect get-away for a couple. When we arrived we were greeted on the front porch by the sweetest little gray cat. That really added to the charm! The cabin is very well maintained and clean. It's great that the owners have been able to add modern amenities without taking away from the authentic charm. The bed was very comfortable! But, the stairs coming down are a bit tricky... if you get up to go to the restroom in the middle of the night, be sure to put your shoes on so you don't slip on the stairs. They only suggestions I have are to put non skid strips on that last step, have a remote for the DVD player so you can skip through the previews and to put a mirror in the bathroom that is more functional rather then decorative.

We were glad we selected the 179 year old Cothren Cabin for our stay in historic Mineral Point and a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. The place is very quiet, incredibly unique, and full of charm. It's authentic, yet with modern amenities, like central heat and air. 'Loved the walk-in fireplace with a window and a warming seat. Watch out for that bottom stair-step if you get up during the night!

Thanks for the review - and for posting your wonderful pictures. I needed a better picture of the stairway and I like the way you captured the window in the fireplace. Thanks again! Lisa

The Cothren Cottage is the perfect get-away for a couple, small family or, as we did, a gal's weekend away from the husbands. Two bedrooms, a living room and bath, it is charmingly decorated to be comfy but not fou-fou. It has a truly great shower, coffee-maker, microwave, fridge, wireless internet and TV. Cozy and peaceful, it was totally quiet for great sleeping.
The Cottage is walking distance from High Street, so we got our steps in for the day strolling up and down the hills, ogling the lovely homes and amazing gardens, shopping and eating in town. If you're interested in Am Player's Theatre, it's about 20 minutes away.
It really was the perfect get-away.
Lisa is a wonderful hostess, very knowledgeable about the area, friendly and warm. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
